Seton Hall finds itself in precarious position after falling to DePaul 74-57 in Sunday evening's standalone game at Wintrust Arena.

The Pirates are in last place in conference play after suffering a double-digit loss to the league’s usual caboose. The road loss marks Seton Hall's seventh consecutive loss - the program’s most since a nine-game winless streak as part of a 3-15 conference campaign during Kevin Willard’s third season at the helm in 2012-2013.

To make matters worse, already down their second and third leading scorers – graduate guards Chaunce Jenkins (11.4 ppg) and g Dylan Addae-Wusu (9.8 ppg) – Seton Hall saw sophomore wing Scotty Middleton, who recently entered the starting lineup, go down with an ankle injury midway through the first half that he did not return from.

You would not be able to tell that DePaul entered the game losers of three straight and eight of their last nine as CJ Gunn connected on a jump shot for the first field goal of the game and the Blue Demons proceeded to make five of their first eight shots, while out rebounding the Pirates 8-1 for a 12-0 lead in the first four minutes and change of the game.

Sophomore forward David Tubek got the Hall on the scoreboard with a corner three off the assist from Middleton to break an 0/7 start from the field from the visitors.

Seton Hall picked up its defensive intensity and held DePaul scoreless for more than five minutes, closing the score to 15-12 on a 7-0 run capped by an and-one layup from freshman guard Jahseem Felton after a jumper from sophomore wing Isaiah Coleman and a layup from Middleton.

DePaul responded in short-order with a three pointer from Isaiah Rivera, one of four first half makes for the home team before extending the lead back to 23-14 on a three by Jacob Meyer with less than eight minutes in the half.

The Pirates closed the gap to four points, 25-21, after a post up bucket from junior forward Prince Aligbe, and drew it within three, 29-26, after two free throws from sophomore guard Garwey Dual, which was the closest the game would be the rest of the way.

DePaul closed the half on a 7-2 to enter halftime up 38-29 due in large part to a 9-2 margin in fast break points.

The Blue Demons took their largest lead in the second half, 59-37, on a three from Rivera with less than ten minutes remaining.

Leading DePaul was NJ Benson with 17 points, 11 rebounds (3 offensive), three assists, two blocks and a steal, while Gunn tallied 16 point and seven rebounds. Rivera scored 14 points on 4/6 shooting from long range and Jacob Meyer put up 11 coming off the bench for DePaul.

Seton Hall was led by Isaiah Coleman’s 18 point, four rebound, three steal performance, while Tubek and Aligbe contributed eight points apiece.
