SCOUTING BUTLER
On Friday, Seton Hall and Butler will meet for the 19th time in history. The Bulldogs own a 12-6 record in the all-time series and have won nine of the last 10 meetings, including a sweep of the Pirates during the 2022 season. The Hall is 2-6 all-time at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Butler is coming off a 16-15 campaign in 2022, which included a 10-8 mark in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament, but fell in the quarterfinals to Xavier in four sets. Libero Jaymeson Kinley earned BIG EAST Libero of the Year for the second time, while newcomer Cora Taylor was named to the All-Freshman Team.

In the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Bulldogs were predicted to finish eighth in 2023 with Kinley landing on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Kyle Shondell is the Bulldogs' new head coach after Sharon Clark announced her retirement in the offseason. The Bulldogs welcomed seven incoming freshmen to the program for 2023.

Butler enters Friday's contest with a record of 7-8 overall and a 1-3 mark in the BIG EAST. They started conference play with three straight losses, getting swept by Xavier and Creighton before falling to Georgetown in four sets. Most recently, they swept Villanova on the road on Saturday.

SCOUTING XAVIER

Xavier is coming off a strong 2022 campaign that featured a 21-12 final record and an 11-7 mark in BIG EAST play.
