Seton Hall split a pair of matches last week at Walsh Gym. The Hall won a thrilling, five-set victory against Butler on Friday before dropping a four-set decision to Xavier on Saturday.

Senior Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) collected a career-high 23 kills, while Bianca Bucciarelli (Carate Brianza, Italy) and Taylor Jakubowski (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) had double-doubles and the Pirates outlasted Butler, 3-2 (21-25, 25-15, 28-26, 24-26, 15-11) on Friday. After dropping the opening set, the Pirates rallied to win three of the final four sets to claim its third five-set victory in the last four matches. Two of those wins coming against DePaul and Butler who the Pirates entered tonight tied with for the sixth and final BIG EAST Tournament spot.

Lucas was elite, collecting 23 kills, only two attack errors, a .583 attack percentage and five blocks.

On Saturday, Graduate student Madeline Matheny (Wilmington, Del.) had a double-double and the Pirates won the opening set, but Xavier rallied for a four-set victory, 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 22-25, 5-25). For her efforts last week, Lucas was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for a second-straight week.

SCOUTING CONNECTICUT
Seton Hall and Connecticut will meet for the 36th time in history on Friday. The Huskies own a 21-14 all-time series lead, but the Pirates have won the last three meetings. Earlier this year, The Hall swept Connecticut on Sept. 23. It was the first time the Pirates have swept UConn since Oct. 26, 1994.

Matheny collected a double-double, including a match-high 15 kills as the Pirates team swept the Huskies, 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 28-26). She was brilliant with 15 kills, only four attack errors, a .355 attack percentage, 10 digs and two blocks.

UConn's two BIG EAST victories came at home against Butler on Oct. 14 and Providence on Oct. 18. Since, the Huskies have lost three straight.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Seton Hall and Providence will renew its lengthy rivalry on Saturday. The Pirates own a slim 22-18 lead in the all-time series. Although the overall series is close, the Pirates have won 17 of the last 21 meetings. Most recently, The Hall swept Providence earlier this season.

Four Pirates collected at least eight kills and the Pirates swept Providence, 3-0 (25-12, 27-25, 25-17), to begin BIG EAST play on Sept. 22. The Pirates had a .298 attack percentage, their second-highest mark of the season, and dominated the Friars before a raucous home crowd.

Junior Hanna Tulli (Collegeville, Pa.) had the most-impressive offensive night, finishing with eight kills, no attack errors and a team-best .615 attack percentage. She also had three blocks. Senior Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) had nine kills, only two attack errors, and a .538 attack percentage. Matheny also had nine kills to go with five digs. Bucciarelli had eight kills and six digs.

UP NEXT
Next week, The Hall will return Walsh Gymnasium. The Pirates will host local rival St. John's on Wednesday, Nov. 8, before celebrating Senior Day prior to their final home contest against Creighton on Friday, Nov. 10.
