South Orange, N.J. - The Seton Hall baseball team's pitching staff combined for a four-hit shutout and redshirt junior Devin Hack went 3-for-4 with three RBI as the Pirates won its third straight game with a 6-0 win over Saint Peter's on Tuesday afternoon at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium.

Redshirt junior Aaron Groller (Harleysville, Pa.) earned the win for the Pirates (7-9), tossing four innings of nearly flawless relief allowing no runs, hits or walks and striking out four. Sophomore Pat D'Amico (Lynnfield, Mass.) also posted a multi-hit game for The Hall as he went 2-for-5 at the dish.

How It Happened

It was a pitcher's duel through the first four innings as both teams combined to tally only three hits. After a two-inning start from freshman Ryan Reich (Sellinsgrove, Pa.), Groller came on in relief and retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced with three strikeouts.

Seton Hall looked to manufacture a run in the bottom of the fifth as Hack led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by redshirt junior Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.). Junior Max Viera (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) would later drive him in on a double to left field for the game's first run. The Pirates added to their lead in the sixth where Hack drove both runners home in scoring position on a single to right field that made it 3-0 Seton Hall.

After reliever Richie Cimpric (Bayport, N.Y.) worked out of trouble in the seventh, Gale led off the home half with a walk following a 12-pitch at-bat. He went on to steal second and third before being driven in by D'Amico, extending the Pirates' lead to 4-0. Insurance was added in the eighth where redshirt junior Oscar Murray (Brentwood, Calif.) posted an RBI double and Hack tallied another RBI on a single that made it 6-0.
