There comes a time when change is necessary. I have reached that time. I have in some way, shape or form been involved with SHU on the internet since the early 90s and at this point I am just exhausted. That said I have always noted I would not leave our subscribers without fair warning and without someone to take my place. So....
I will stay on in the same capacity until June and then hand off to JD Waker from Steampunk. JD is everything and more to what I was when younger. He's energetic, loves the Pirates and has at his disposal the advantages of Steampunk...a photographer, podcast ability and the same media access to the program I do.
JD will better my efforts and I will help him slowly get comfortable here and on the freeboard. He will also have Collin to write stories along with writing his own and I will pass on all my connections to help him.
I have been working the Trove for 20 years, most of them with little help and I just do not have the energy to continue.
Along the way I have made hundreds of friends and I would not trade this experience for anything. There are so many people I want to mention but doing so I would clearly exclude some. You know who you are so let's just keep it like that.
Further, this season has no bearing on my decision. I had already contacted the school in the fall to tell them as soon as I had a replacement I would be gradually leaving. That time will come officially in June and unofficially near the start of next season.
Please give JD a chance. I hate to see all the work I did to build the Trove result in its demise.
If anyone has any questions fire away and know that I love all of you who have been members here and on the freeboard through the years.
This is not goodbye, but so long. Even after I am gone I will at times post and read. This is in my blood so I will never go cold turkey.
Go Pirates!!!!!
