Poll: Murphy vs Ciattarelli

If the NJ gubernatorial election was today, would you vote for Phil Murphy or Jack Ciattarelli?

  • Phil Murphy

    Votes: 13 28.9%
  • Jack Ciattarelli

    Votes: 30 66.7%
  • Other

    Votes: 2 4.4%

  • Total voters
    45
Think he is a good candiate, but he was really unknown to most, his campaign seems to really have never gotten much steam and seems like he has focused on the wrong things.

What should he be focused on in addition to taxes, Murphy's awful virus record, etc?

What would have been an "effective campaign" in your eyes?

One where you wouldn't have posted something like this.

Good point. Jack Ciattarelli is running for governor. I haven't heard a peep about him in the news since he won the primary except for choosing his running mate in the last few days. What is he doing? Is he campaigning? Pretty stunning for a guy who polls show struggles with name recognition above all else.

He disappeared after the primary and was waiting for opportunity to arise rather than seeking it himself. He should have been all over the place becoming a household name.

He's been out there ever since. That post was in August. You don't win elections in August, you win them in September and October. Do I wish he had better recognition? Of course.

There are two issues: 1) he isn't the incumbent so he has to work harder to get attention and 2) the media doesn't give him a fair shake. Murphy has the media in his pocket.

I think he needed to spend more times letting voters get to know him, his plans to improve NJ and keep pounding on Murphy’s terrible tax ideas. Unfortunately with Covid and unfriendly media, think this made getting his message out extra hard. Should have also pounded more on states poor jobs/financial recovery after Covid compared to other states.

While Murphy made terrible decisions on nursing homes that lead to way too many deaths, it seems people give him a pass, not sure if they don’t care or just feel Murphy’s choices were limited.

Ciattarelli seems much more in touch with the people, while Murphy talks and acts like he is smarter/better than you.

I just don’t agree that lead to “many deaths” Covid was already in the homes. Residents coming back didn’t introduce anything new. It was already there.

After being discharged from a hospital, where should they have gone? That was their home.

Also, studies have shown you are most contagious prior to any symptoms. If they were hospitalized because of Covid and then healthy enough to be discharged, they may not have even been contagious at that point.

The big mistake was lack of prioritizing PPE in nursing homes (which killed a lot of staff in addition to the residents. NJ also took steps to set up field hospitals (one was in AC), but never activated them. We really needed to isolate these patients after they were discharged from Acute care hospitals.

Well tomorrow is the day. Pirate crew is ready to elect Jack as governor. Let's see what happens tomorrow. Jack in a shocker is my prediction!

Three things that standout for me, with Murphy (I still believe he will win, because Trump):

1. Whatever happened to Katie Brennan? For a "pro-woman" Democrat, he certainly stood by as she was raped and left to twist in the wind

2. His handling of the long-term care facilities at the onset of the pandemic. I don't care what the prevailing wisdom of the time was, it was a bad idea, medically, and common-sense wise. But Cuomo did it...

3. "If taxes are your issue, NJ may not be the state for you." What an out-of-touch, pretentious statement to make, from a New England-bred, Ivy-educated, trust fund beneficiary. Twenty years ago and beyond in NJ, this comment would have cost him the next election. But he knows it won't, and that is a sad commentary on how Democrat rule and taxes have sent many of the NJ middle class to Delaware and south, and in their place people who happily pay any taxes to live in a bubble consistent with their own ideology.

What a F-ing mess.
Number 3, in particular, irks me. The guy who worked at Goldman freaking Sachs of all places -- talking about "mortality" and minimizing how taxes are overly-burdensome here for most everyone else.

Maybe the people in Westfield, Summit, Millburn, Princeton, Glen Ridge -- any of those toney, all-white suburbs -- who delivered this bum a second term should pay 33% more in property taxes. I mean, taxes aren't "an issue" for them. Right?

Don't forget our neighbors in South Orange and Montclair.

How about the people who call trumps wall racist and then fight affordable housing in their town. Nothing hypocritical about that

Unrelated to NJ but I saw a video online of a MSNBC talking head saying Virginia went to Youngkin because voters there are comfortable with white supremacy. The same voters who just elected a woman of color as the lieutenant governor on the same day. LOL!!

The media has certainly lost a lot of credibility.

The "white supremacy" or "dog whistling" narrative the commentators on MSNBC and CNN were apparently pushing the other night to justify Youngkin's upset was comical. The guy's ticket and campaign was as diverse as can be. So a bunch of white supremacists decided to elect the first woman of color as LT Gov?
