Prayers Requested

We appreciate all the support, folks - it's very much appreciated! So, the day finished up nicely. Once she came out of surgery and was put into ICU, they told my dad to just go home, so when he called around dinner time for an update, they said she transitioned very nicely off of the ventilator and into manual breathing, and even put her on the phone with him! Dad said she was still pretty loopy and didn't make much sense (which may been a trait she passed to her eldest son), but I guess that isn't the point.

Great points some raised here about the rehab process, which will be pretty intense. A sternum doesn't just fuse back together like that, but I think she's ready to do whatever she's got to do to get back.

Again, thanks everyone. It means a lot!

Source, You and many other Seton Hall fans sent prayers and thoughts for my wife when she came down with cancer in January 2012. She had 3 operations over 28 months and for each she received many prayers. Several Seton Hall fans even wrote directly to my wife after Dan asked if he could post where they could contact her. That was very touching for both of us. My wife was treated at Morristown Memorial and they have been rated the #1 hospital in the state for about the last 5 years. A good friend of mine was rushed there for a major heart problem about 4 years ago and he claims they saved his life. I will pray hard for your mother as that is the least I can do. I myself have been fighting lymphoma and just had more chemo today and will go back again tomorrow. I am doing well as I have CLL the same type of leukemia that Marty Liquori has had since 1991 (24 years). It is nothing like my wife had to endure. I just wish she had made it but no one knows when the Lord will call any of us. I firmly believe your mother will do just fine. My prayers are with her and your entire family.
1212, so many times I've been touched by the way fans of our respective schools can lay down their arms in times like these to wish each other well. The way your wife fought bravely before succumbing was heartbreaking, but I'm glad your were helped in any way by the outreach from our side, as well as the Rutgers folks. That's the important stuff! I was wondering how you yourself were doing, as I recall you posting your diagnosis. I've been off the boards a but more than usual the past few months, but every time I see a reference to Bellarmine College, I think of you. Keep fighting, and you know you've got our support, too!

Thanks Source. There are many more important things in life than a basketball game. I am grateful for everyone who sent well wishes to my wife and I during those rough times. I am doing alright but take one day at a time. Today I just completed 3 consecutive days of chemo to end cycle #2. My next treatment is August 11-13. I will have a CAT scan that same day too. I think I will be fine.
Right now I just hope that your mother bounces back to 100% in the near future. My prayers are with all of you. Just today at chemo I heard so many hearbreaking tales of other people that have things so much tougher than I do. I count my blessings.
