Prince Aligbe

Maybe playing closer to the rim as the small lineup 5 is helping him do less as he's closer to the rim, idk. Many of the players on this team are challenged by the fact we do not have a PG who can drive the ball to the rim and get guys in position.

Beginning of the year, it seemed like a lid on the rim.
He couldn't make a shot if his life depended on it.
Now the rim seems like the ocean.... looking smooth with some nice moves and soft touch.

Prince asked me to send this to you Ed.

ed, and our friend mike eating crow gladly. me too. i has shocked at his shooting in the early games. now he looks so solid. a huge part if the offensive tyrnaround.
Against 2 out of the 3 other bad teams in the Big East.

His energy though looked much better in these battles of the botton.

yes. but he got and then missed very makable shots all year. now hes making them.
Exactly. 3/11 against Fordham, 1/7 against Hofstra, 2/8 against Wagner and VCU etc.

He’s getting after it and making a difference. Glad to see the progress.

One of the hopeful things about him when he signed was he was .550 from 2PT (22nd) in ACC play. Maybe that’s rounding into form. We’ll see.

Seems to me that we play our best ball with Prince, Gus, Scotty, Felton are on the floor together. Ball is moving, screens, defense, high energy group. We keep Coleman and these guys together and we will win games. Gus needed to be on the floor end of last nights game. Kid knows how to move on the floor. He’s clearly the straw that stirs the drink on offense. I bet we upset some people in February, March.

Gus creates more space for our offense than our guards lol.

Although Dual is showing more there.
Dual is coming into his own skin and gaining confidence. Young talented players are fun to watch because suddenly they get it and transform in front of you. Problem is they also transform back. Good games bad games in and out and then they turn into Juniors and Seniors. We need to be saving NIL money not necessarily for next year but for the following year. I want to see Middletown, Coleman, Gus, Felton, Dual together as men. Maybe Prince does a graduate year as well.

He seems to not be trying to take the ball from the arc as much. Less handling, more bucket getting. Playing more like Kelly Whitney instead of Dre Davis.
Yup, some of the moves last night reminded me of Kelly.

Talked to him for a bit at the Beefsteak thing last year. You can tell he’s a smart kid and no wonder he ended up at BC. He’s surprised me a bit with his offense, although I would appreciate if he wouldn’t take any more 3s. Just needs to be more consistent on his assertiveness on D and on the Boards.

Reactions: Piratz and PROF Ed
115.4 offensive rating in BE play on legit usage. Top 10 in the conference. Pretty amazing turnaround.

I imagine this is what Shaheen has been seeing in practice all along?
Sha’s made some revealing comments about Aligbe during the season. When Prince started turning the corner in BE play it came after he had a stretch of barely playing. Sha was something to the extent of “he gets it” now. Something clicked.

Then last night he said Prince is always in his head and that’s his biggest challenge, meaning overthinking. I wonder if it was some of that too because he was clearly rushing earlier in the year, jittery. He has a better rhythm and touch now.

Great point Piratz he is taking his time now and knows when to go quick and when to be patient. Received a nice pass last night, waited for the defender to jump then he finished the layup. Seems to really have his feet on the ground now and is starting to look more like a veteran out there. Kudos to Sha for seeing the potential and coaching him up. The kid is certainly a worker and is hard on himself too. He wants to get better. He still has to improve his rebounding and defense but he's getting there.

Understands his limitations at this point. He is not a good jump shooter but he has been solid in the lane and that’s where he has been successful. Has also improved his FT shooting. A nice story in a season with hardly any.
