The friars had gotten pretty worn down recently, especially their go-to guys Dunn and Bentil. Bentil is still recovering from a sprained ankle. Meanwhile, Dunn missed practice yesterday with a stomach virus. But the 8 days of rest before they play the Pirates on Thursday gives the Friars an advantage they needed to regroup. They are hungry for a win and are going to bring intensity. The Pirates have to exceed that intensity, draw strength from the home crowd, and never let the friars up for air.

Would be interested to see teams' records in the big east coming off the "bye". We are 2-0, rebounding with wins after losses both times. After losing to Marquette at home, Providence took a week off and won at Creighton.

The road teams have done quite well under Willard and Cooley in the Friars-Hall series.

The schedule is a bit screwy, no? Multiple week+ rests.

Definitely. I recall fondly (but I doubt the payers did) the Saturday-Monday tilt of the old BE. That 2OT against Pitt was a Monday I believe. Forget who we had played the previous game.

That year we were imho a top 25 but we couldn't crack it. We lost on Saturdays and won on Mondays. Imperfect timing for the AP voters.
