Rayshard Brooks murderer charged w/11 counts

an entire half of the country that is outwardly racist in the south, midwest, parts of the north. thats not a few cooks. the rest still practice racist policies, thoughts, culture. how many african americans live in your neighborhood? how many congressmen are non white?

Whaaat? Outside of the white Philly burbs, South Orange, and now NYC, how much experience do you have with the rest of the country? 50% outwardly racist is absurd. No credibility.

I will agree with you when you so eloquently state "America is not fair." And racism isn't a cultural phenomenon, it's a human one. And you will never eradicate it completely.

I thought this was a reasonable take from a DA of 25 years in LA and Detroit. Not sure why the officer kicked him at the end that was plain stupid but the shooting appears lawful. Facts do matter and all shootings are not racially motivated. If he did not resist arrest he would be alive. George Floyd was clear murder - horrible. This one should be thrown out. It is pretty clear based on Georgia law and what transpired. The Atlanta Mayor and DA fell to the public pressure instead of making a reasonable decision here.

If the cop is found not guilty, cities will burn. And that is the big fear here.
The nation is afraid that looting , unrest, and violence will ensue.
The man broke the law, tried to escape, shot at a cop.
Were they supposed to let him run away?

This is very misguided. even back in the 1830s we knew that law wont change anything related to culture. Racism in culture is very real issue. i am not on the far left spectrum that the guys are here, but your assessment that its just a few kooks out there who are racist is wrong. your definition of racist by that matter is wrong. law has nothing to do with it. people are denied loans for the color of there skin, home ownership is wildly disproportional, black people are given more years for same crimes, etc. the stigma will likely never go away. this is the exact reason that the most sane course of action was to send all free slaves to Liberia. it was too expensive. they would never, and have not had equal footing.

america is not fair and the step is for people like you to start understanding and listening to why that is. im just shocked you actually wrote those words.
How did a country that is as racist as you claim elect a black president overwhelmingly, and reelect him?

Brooks served serious time for domestic violence, domestic battery and child cruelty. But the narrative is all about how terrible it is that his daughters will never see him again.

If that's the logic, then our country is lost. Who wants people to be convicted or freed based on civil unrest? How about justice? If he's guilty so be it. If he's not guilty so be it. Not the loudest group wins. To have an outcome determined because of civil unrest is ridiculous.

my apologies, perhaps my exaggeration of "half",tho i still maintain, was used to offset the even more ridiculous "only a few kooks are racist" by shu09

the northeast is the most progressive in terms of accepting diversity and i still witness racism large and small on a weekly basis. i know people who will say the n word, i know people who joke about stuff, i know people who dont realize their entire team is made up of completely white people. its all racism. it is deep rooter everywhere and outwardly showcased in a large amount of places.

the only thing 100% wrong was shu09s comment. im on board with his aggressive stance on police. if he wants to say all of things brought to light are only"unessesary" then i wont get too much in a fuss. but to say america is fair and racism is only a few bad apples is a massive problem, downright wrong, and an example of how wide spread it is even in the northeast.

i think there is effort needed to be done on both black and white sides. im no BLM protester. i dont believe reparations pushes towards equality. but im calling that comment out. thats a massive red flag.

What does people who joke about "stuff" mean? Having a team made up of all white people isn't racist. Certainly if they are all the best candidates for the job. If I'm doing a job, I want the best, most qualified people. I don't care if they're white, black, asian, gay, straight, etc.

I haven't heard anyone use the "N" word in at least ten years; nowhere; work, social settings, in public, etc., and that's in an area that he has categorized as racist. Personally, I think it's healthy to have a team that's talented and diverse. I don't go looking for a particular race or gender when hiring someone, but the result has been a diverse team.

"Joke about stuff"? I can tell you I have friends who are minorities in a group of white friends and we all make jokes about our countries, looks, sterotypes and we all laugh our asses off. Is that racist in your book? In my book it's people of different backgrounds knowing humor is just humor and enjoying each other's company .

aka you joke about stereotypes and its cool because you have an ethnic friend.

yes. and my granpa totally thought it was cool to call people eggplants. the bandaid has to be ripped off and unfortunately it will probably only slowly happen as generations die off. people get very afraid when their way of life gets threatened. i get it.

Ethnic friends. And yes we can joke about each other. We're not a bunch of snowflakes.

I think you need to distinguish between people that you are good friends with and share a lot of history. It’s pretty normal to be irreverent with each other and say things you wouldn’t normally say in public.

Making that same comment on Facebook with your 500 friends...400 Of which you never met.

Well yes that's kind of obvious. But it just shows people can joke with one another about race, country, sexuality. Social mrdia is the death of the world.

Obvious, but there are some people here that don’t get it...probably because they don’t have those kinds of relationships with people that are different from themselves.

Sure don't, they sit in their hoity toity suburbs surrounded by white people who all decide what's best for minorities. The closest they get to a minority is the two guys landscaping their property. It's really sad. Meanwhile the "racists" have friendships with people of all color or creed.

I will offer my opinion on the charges without knowing Georgia law. One, I believe the DA overcharged. The most serious count is felony murder. But here the underlying felony is the shooting of the victim. The DA uses the shooting twice as the used the shooting as the felony and how the victim was killed. This case is more appropriately charged as a manslaughter. Even that will be difficult to prove and is setting the community up with this overcharge.

I see both sides of the case here. One saying that the cop was justified for shooting him once he was fired upon by the taser. On the other hand, the cop knew after the victim was patted down that he had no weapons. The stun gun is not deadly force and why not call for backup? The cops decision to shoot taken in its totality seems like a poor decision. The question is whether it is whether it was reasonable or unreasonable and criminal. it’s a close call

Difficult case and horrible tragedy. But this is a manslaughter case and not a felony murder case. The charges against the other no shooter cop seem absolutely ridiculous.

Thanks for the perspective. It strikes me that the DA acted quickly and overcharged just to calm the public and prevent rioting. Essentially kicking the can down the road.

I believe the DA has some serious problems of his own and he’s up for re-election. Overcharging and going big on this case is important to him.

I thought about that too. I think the cop has an opening to say he could not risk the possibility that during the struggle the other officer's gun was taken. Then again I think the cops reaction was pure instinct and training. They are trained to react to certain things and react quickly. I had a lengthy conversation with a chief about a course he took that allowed him to shave 10ths of seconds to get his gun out of the holster and on target. There is not much thinking involved. Just muscle memory.

I also agree with the rest of your post, especially about it being a tragedy.

I wonder how they will get a fair trial. If found innocent, there will of course be riots. If found guilty, you hope the verdict is based on evidence and not fear of riots.

Garrett Rolfe mother was fired from her HR job. She's gonna make a ton of money in a lawsuit. If anyone wants a good laugh go read her employers tweet, which gets very detailed, and as of this moment has less than 100 likes to over 3500 comments bashing them. I am glad she stood up to the mob, she will be a rich lady for doing so.

I need to research what she deployed before you can argue she will be rich. If she is an HR staffer she particularly needs to know what she should and should not be sharing directly at workplace or via any social media.

I guess a series of depositions may happen to find out what was said or deployed.

Now perhaps they give her severance agreement with nda and she then cant speak on anything. But if she sues civil we will see what happens.

Would it be wrong if termination was due to just being step mother absolutely but willing to chance that she did more here.

I'm willing to bet she stood up for her son. That's not allowed against the mob. She Wil be rich.
