SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- The NCAA has named No. 21 Seton Hall its women's basketball team of the week, as announced on Tuesday (Dec. 1). The Pirates are 7-0 in 2015-16 and fresh off a sweep of two games at the 2015 Cancun Challenge to claim the tournament's Riviera Division title.

Led by Riviera Division MVP Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas), The Hall came away from Mexico with a pair of impressive victories last weekend to remain undefeated. The Pirates took down previously undefeated North Carolina State, 58-55, on Thanksgiving Night (Nov. 26) before toppling Northern Iowa, 57-49, in a de factor division title game on Nov. 27. Richardson-Smith averaged 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the tournament, while Aleesha Powell (Philadelphia, Pa.) added 17.0 points and 6.5 boards a contest.

Richardson-Smith leads The Hall with 18.1 points per game this season, good for second in the BIG EAST. Powell is second on the squad with 13.3 a game, while Tiffany Jones (New York, N.Y.) leads the squad and ranks third in the BIG EAST with 8.3 rebounds per contest. Lubirdia Gordon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) tops the league with 3.0 blocks per game, ranking 14th in the nation, while Shakena Richardson (Neptune, N.J.) paces the conference with 5.4 assists per contest.

The Hall also has notable victories this season over Rutgers and then-No. 24 Princeton, helping it to its highest ranking in the Associated Press Top-25 since 1995. The Pirates jumped four spots in the USA Today Coaches Poll this week up to No. 21 and currently rank No. 3 in the official NCAA RPI.

Seton Hall returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 6 for a showdown at the University of Georgia. Tip-off from Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga. is set for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on SEC Network+. The Hall defeated the Bulldogs, 70-51, in the first all-time meetings between the programs last season.
