  • The Seton Hall men's basketball team returns to Prudential Center for its first game in Newark in nearly a month when the Pirates host Monmouth at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
  • The Pirates are coming off of a third-place finish at the Charleston Classic where they went 2-1 with top-100 KenPom wins over VCU (40) and Florida Atlantic (96).
  • Isaiah Coleman was named to the Charleston Classic All-Tournament Team and the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in three games.
  • Coleman posted his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against VCU and had a career-high 20 points against Vanderbilt.
  • The Pirates boast one of the top defenses in Div. I, ranking seventh in KenPom defensive efficiency, fourth in scoring defense (55.7 ppg), 20th in field goal percentage defense (36.7 pct) and 23rd in three-point FG defense (26.3 pct).
  • Despite its offensive struggles to start the season, the Pirates have shot the ball well from three-point range where they rank 19th in Div. I shooting at a 39.8 percent clip (47-of-118).
  • In three games at the Charleston Classic as a team, the Pirates shot 43 percent from deep (24-of-55) and held opponents to 25 percent (23-of-92) from beyond the arc.
  • Seton Hall is one of five teams in Div. I, along with Houston, Cincinnati, Clemson and Ohio State, to be ranked in the top 20 in both KenPom defensive efficiency and three-point FG percentage.
  • Seton Hall is 15-0 all-time against Monmouth in a series that dates back to 1983.
  • The Hall's first game at Prudential Center was against the Hawks on Nov. 11, 2007, an 89-81 overtime victory for the Pirates.
  • Holloway is 8-3 all-time against Monmouth and its head coach King Rice, including a 6-3 mark when Holloway was the head coach at Saint Peter's.
  • Holloway is 18-10 all-time against New Jersey schools as a head coach and is 1-0 this season.
  • Seton Hall's third-place finish at the Charleston Classic was the Pirates' best finish at an MTE since winning the 2018-19 Wooden Legacy.
  • In the overtime victory over VCU on Nov. 21, Chaunce Jenkins scored all of his game-high 22 points against the Rams after halftime.
  • The Pirates are 4-1 on the season when Jenkins is their leading scorer.
  • The Pirates were 9-4 in games decided by 10 points or less last season and are 3-2 in those contests this season.
  • The Pirates had a historic defensive performance against Wagner where they held the Seahawks to just 24 percent shooting from the floor and 28 points, its fewest points allowed since 1947 when they defeated Panzer College, 51-28, on Jan. 30.
  • Head coach Shaheen Holloway's last three teams have finished in the top 33 nationally in KenPom's defensive efficiency rating:

  • Among active players in Div. I, Dylan Addae-Wusu ranks 26th in games played (135), 16th in steals (189) and 44th in assists (373).
  • Addae-Wusu and Creighton's Ryan Kalkbrenner share the lead among active players with 78 career BIG EAST games played.
  • Similar to last season where the Pirates were picked to finish ninth in the BIG EAST preseason coaches poll but went on to finish fourth, Seton Hall was picked to finish 10th in the 11-team BIG EAST in this year's poll.
  • The Pirates last season were the first BIG EAST team to ever finish at least five games over .500 in conference play and not make the NCAA Tournament.
  • Holloway's teams have finished below .500 in conference play just once in six seasons when his first Saint Peter's team went 6-12.
