Richmond Out

I suggest we sit him out Saturday too. We are probably not winning with him. Give him some rest, and have him ready for Depaul. He then would have another week off before Gtown game.
Or we could start him (limit his minutes), see how the game is progressing, and then pull/rest him if it starts looking like an L.

I am guessing that the simplest reason stated here for his absence is the most likely.
And the coach can handle or present it any way he wishes. But calling it "undisclosed" is odd and misleading.

Saturday or no later than Depaul.
Assuming it was really “soreness” and not serious injury (ie hurt not injured) I would have preferred if he play vs PC and shut it down vs Marquette. Highly unlikely we beat Marquette even with a heathy kadary. That’s the more appropriate game to just take the L and give him rest.

That question has already been answered. Sha already said "that's on me" that he was still in the blowout.
Agreed…if he was in denial, gave a BS excuse, or talked around the question asked, then I am all for accountability, so that he has awareness for the next time.

But when the coach essentially says “I f***d up and that’s on me.” I am not sure what beating that drum is going to change at this point.

If Kadary is out an extended period of time and that causes the team to lose some games and miss the tournament, then yes looking back you can point a finger to that moment / decision in time.

That’s part of being a coach. You get celebrated for the good decisions you make and get criticized for the poor choices that don’t work out.

I would be more worried if there is not growth from a poor choice. If say we are blowing out DePaul and Sha decides not to pull his starters again, then there is cause for concern.

But define when you should pull them. I distinctly remember Jay Wright, of all coaches, stepping on our throats up until the final minute of the game on most occasions.

Your last paragraph is right on. As I noted elsewhere, Soriano was playing hard up 20 in the last minute vs Nova last night.

I think the issue is Richmonds 3rd year here. He went out last game of the year in year 1 at Creighton and wasn't the same in the BET or NCAA tournament. He went out last year with a back issue. This might not be the guy you want to play all 40 minutes when you're up big. It can happen to anybody, but I think a guy like Richmond there's more reason to be cautious.

Hadn’t had a chance to read the article. Was going off what the other poster was stating.

So the fact that he practiced Monday and Tuesday makes this more perplexing.

Or he had something flare up in his back last minute which can prevent you from having the mobility you need to play at this level. But that’s not a soreness problem. That would be an injury problem. 🤷‍♂️
None of us know what Kadary is actually feeling. Beyond that, we all have different pain/discomfort tolerances.

My question would be if he felt sore, if it was wise for him to be practicing. I'm sure Sha didn't push the team hard after the Creighton game -- especially given we had already played PC -- but it seems it might have been a good spot to keep Kadary off his feet.
