Interesting story on Rick Barnes and his contract at Texas. He makes $2.5 million per year on a contract that runs through 2019, yet the buyout is only $1.5 million if they fire him by April 1 (and $1.75 million after that). The Longhorns haven't made the Sweet 16 in seven years, despite all the talent Barnes has brought in. Considering that Texas has football money coming out of their ears, this should be an easy decision to make, It's hard to believe Barnes has been at Texas for 18 years. Where does the time go?

Will Rick Barnes be let go?

Nobody underachieves more than Barnes. The Butler game was close most of the way, but still UT was ranked in the top 25 most of the year then showed they didn't belong in the NCAA dance.

UT was ranked 7th when they played Kentucky.

Butler-Notre Dame is my most anticipated game of the Round of 32. The Bulldogs have a good chance.

Thought this thread was going another direction. So let me take it there. If Rick Barnes' buy out is only 1.5 million even though he gets paid $2.5 million and his contract run to 2019, how in the world is Willard's buyout more? WTF?

We should all be wondering the same thing. If a big-money school like Texas can negotiate a deal like this, how can a small Catholic school where every penny matters not do the same? Baffling.

This is the magic question that no one seems to be willing to answer.
