Roseanne....

Perhaps you missed my point. The extreme example was to allow you to see that there are matters of degrees. Calling someone an ape is not the same as calling someone an ass H***. Calling a black person an ape is as offensive and racist like calling that person the N Word.

Seeing differences is not your strong suit. In this thread you essentially said that Sally Field, Samantha Bea, Olberman and Rosaane are all equivalent. Although it is your opinion, sometimes your opinion smacks against the truth. In this instance, it does.
I never said they were completely equivalent and if you actually used some reading comprehension (not YOUR strong suit...lol), you would have clearly seen that I agreed that the difference in punishment fit the actions (show cancellation (Barr) and advertiser boycott(Bee)). To use your analogy (but accurately) it's the difference between Murder I and Murder II. Are they exactly equivalent? No....Are the both horrible? Yes.

Read up a few, I posed a quote from him where he called you an arrogant a-hole in a thread not too long ago.

I think we should all be able to ageee that he would be banned from this board if you were black and he said something racist.

This thread went in a really, really dumb direction.

Abhorrent behavior has no bounds whether it be age, race, political ideology, etc. Some people can recognize and call it out wherever it occurs, and others will look the other way or make excuses for those that are on their "team". Pretty clear how that lines up in this thread....
Thought I would repost...when did "equivalence' enter the conversation? Not from me....Second part of my post holding true to form....

Because my response to his post (which you, failed to include) would have put it in the appropriate context. I know your search skills are better than that:).

Context matters now?

What was Olbermann's context?
What was Bee's context?

The context doesn't matter. I have been a moderator of several online forums. Calling someone an asshole would be ignored unless someone complained. Saying something racist to someone would get you either a warning or immediately banned.

This thread started about Rosanne being fired because she said something racist. For whatever reason, people here felt the need to change that narrative to Rosanne saying something "abhorrent" so they could discuss other dumb things that liberals have said.

It's silly. Threat should have ended at Racist fired for being racist. - everyone responds good.
False equivalencies ensued instead.

Wrongo....here was the original post:

"Is any one surprised?"

What happens is every thread goes in its own direction.

And context DOES matter. If a poster made a racist comment to me in a post, you can be damn sure I would fire back with much worse. Sorry Merge, you are not the arbiter of how a thread should start and stop. You sound like you are into censorship....

I am anti false equivalencies and called them out.

The context of you calling cern an arrogant a-hole was a response to his post where he was talking to someone else.
You chimed in as "arbiter" of that thread telling him to be less of an arrogant a-hole...

I am not a mod here, so feel free to continue with this thread where we pretend that curse words offend us.

So all offensive language is the same? I guess you are part of the political correctness movement. Never thought that would be your stance. However, All is not the same and these attempts at false equivalencies is part of this fallacy.

So a comedienne makes a disgusting joke and you excoriate her for it.

Another comedienne makes a disgusting joke and you defend her because, after all, she's a comedienne.

LOL.

Thanks for leaving out the context once again...lol. The rest of your post makes no sense, but carry on.

And then there's Monica Judge who called Ben Carson a "porch monkey".

Crickets from the left.

I guess it's not racist when you do it to a conservative.

Oh that's right... I must not be understanding the context of that remark. Please... Please... Someone explain it to me.

Also can we go over this one more time.... littering is not the same as murder.. yes I think I have it now.

How about crickets from the right? The stuff you just posted is from 7 and 30 months ago.

No one cared until conservatives had to scour the internet to find some nonsense tweets from people no one has ever heard of. You didn’t even get her name right.. lol

And the best they came up with was two black people calling a black person names?

I don’t think you understand how racism works.

I'm still working on that littering and murder thing.

Next week I'll work on trying to figure out racism.

I thought the media did a good job covering this story. I do not follow Roseanne on Twitter nor do I watch the Samantha Bee show. Without the coverage, I would have missed both stories.
