Geeze we should of beat them to him!

Another former McDonald’s All-American is joining the Rutgers basketball program.

This one – Kansas State transfer Baye Fall – took a more circuitous route to Piscataway than Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, who are off to the NBA after one season on the banks.

Here are three things to know about the 6-foot-11, 215-pound sophomore forward/center, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

He's stunk it up so far in college. We were very in on him and his cousin Assane Diop as high schoolers.

No one thought Romaro Gil was going to develop the way he did later on in his career, but he turned into an elite big man.

Thus far, Baye Fall has shown to be incapable of playing high major basketball. It wouldn't shock me though if he figures it out and turns into a solid player. There's obviously some skill there, but it's just a bizarre situation how someone can be such a highly ranked recruit but not even able to get onto the court in two years. Forget about contributing, I'm just talking about the coach having enough confidence to even put you in the game.

Baye Fall is the poster child for why you cannot pay big money on high school recruits. He was a walk-on that costs several hundred thousand dollars.

I would not say he stunk it up as he really did not get much playing time to show how he stunk. A 5 star recruit must have some talent and perhaps he just did not fit the system the coach was running or fell out of favor?

If I was Sha I would have grabbed him in a heart beat if he wanted to come here etc..

Really, now we want Baye Fall? Imagine the posters here if we signed him. He is 6’11”so that’s a plus. Maybe Pike can get something out of him but better coaches than Pike haven’t done it.
No, I wouldn't want him. I've seen this movie before (i.e. Scotty Middleton, Garway Dual, etc.). Some players are just vastly overrated. We aren't in a position to take a 500K gamble on a player. If you have a 10M budget and your roster set? Sure, take a gamble on Fall - but that's not us.

He is a gamble in every sense of the word. You know who shouldn't be gambling? A 2-18 BigEast team.

It’s good to know we’re now in a position to be choosy.

Doesn’t not getting playing time at multiple schools tell you anything?

Based on our budget, we have no choice but to gamble. Safe, solid pickups aren’t lining up to come here. What do we have 9 spots available? I’ll bet 7 are gambles.

He only sucks because RU landed him. If we got him at least some of you would be very happy. And you should be.
Players who can't crack the rotation on mediocre or worse teams normally aren't very good. See Emmanuel Okorafor.

Given your previous player evaluations, I'll take a hard pass.

Depending on what Rutgers paid him and assuming he is coming in as expected back of end roster spot, probably worth a shot.

Would have same thoughts if SHU took him, but based on SHU the last few years most of these former high rank players continue to have same issues at their 2nd/3rd schools.

Based on the fact he has played 13 games over 2 seasons, wouldn't get too much hope up.

He scored 10 points the entire season. Thus far one of the biggest McD's All-American busts ever. I hope he can double his production at RU. We'd be much better off getting the big from SJU, Vince I.

Eh, I'm not crazy about him. The defensive potential is there for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a very good defensive presence from Day 1 but offensively and on the glass there's a lot to be desired for a 6'11 big. But with that being said he does seem like a Pikell guy in terms of defensive capabilities and a developmental piece. Solid get at this juncture

Who’s the bigger McD AA bust to transfer from Kansas State to Rutgers - Baye Fall or Wally Judge?

False. I'm on a Seton Hall group chat and when it was announced Baye Fall was entering the portal someone suggested we should target him. That person was mercilessly ridiculed by 20+ people for displaying subhuman IQ.

The part that is fascinating about all you Baye Fall detractors you really think that if his stats were decent that SHU would have a chance at landing him. You all need to listen to yourselves. Any 4 or 5 star recruit who put up decent numbers at a major school will be tough to get to come here and not only the money is the problem. For that matter any 2 or 3 star players who went on to put good numbers up at one of the big time schools is not coming here.

When the dust settles and the season starts we shall see just how selective we should have been.

These aren't mutually exclusive points. You can believe Seton Hall isn't in a position to get anyone of significant value and also believe that Baye Fall is not an impactful high major player.

Keep in mind Baye Fall hasn't been injured. He's 7' tall, played 71 minutes and scored a total of 17 points through the first half of his college career. It's highly probably that player is not very good.

Is it possible he has some remarkable turnaround? Sure, but I don't think that is probable. I don't believe Baye Fall is making our team or any team better. He's just an expensive walk-on.

We are not going to get impactful high major players or even low major players. Getting kids who under performed at any level is what is happening here. To be critical of any player we don't get is plain silly. Baye Fall is yet another example of RU hate and the idea that we are too good for many of the kids that are out there who do not exceed the mindset on this forum of the players we can get because after all we are the Hall.

I would prefer we target Sada NgaNga over Baye Fall. He already knows Coach Sha's system!
Heard we reached out to NgaNga’s agent and he’s asking for more than our entire budget. I was told NgaNga could play 1 on 5 and win 8 games. Just not happening here next year.

Then why bother? Get a new hobby.

For minimal money it would be worth it and hope he develops some sort of skill… but this player has been robbing schools of NIL money
