THE GAME
Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday, February 8 when it hosts BIG EAST rival Xavier in historic Walsh Gymnasium. Tip time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET.

The game will be televised nationally on FS1 with Sloane Martin and Meg Culmo on the call. As usual, the game will also be available over the airwaves at 89.5 FM WSOU or wsou.net. AJ Rayer and Victor Gonzalez will describe the action on the radio. Live stats will also be available.

Graduate student Kaydan Lawson (Cleveland, Ohio) scored a season-high 11 points, but the Seton Hall women’s basketball team fell at Creighton, 72-56, snapping its three-game win streak on Wednesday.
Seton Hall didn’t have an answer for Creighton’s long-distance shooting. The Bluejays entered the game averaging 9.4 made three-pointers per game, and finished tonight’s contest 16-for-40. Their 40 attempted three-pointers are the most by any BIG EAST team this season… by six. Creighton made only eight trifectas in the teams’ first meeting in Walsh Gym on Jan. 11.
The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for The Hall and drops it to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in BIG EAST play.
Lawson had 11 points, the most she’s had in a Seton Hall uniform, to go with five rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) had 11 points, three rebounds and a team-best three steals. Freshman Jada Eads (Orlando, Fla.) saw her double-digit scoring streak snapped at 15 games. She finished with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.

Seton Hall and Xavier will meet for the first time this season and the 25th time in history on Saturday. The Pirates have dominated the all-time series, winning 21 of the first 24 games, including the last 11 meetings. Last season, The Hall swept the home-and-home series, winning 86-62 in Walsh Gym and 61-47 in Cincinnati. The Pirates are 11-2 at home this season, while Xavier is 0-9 on the road.
SCOUTING XAVIER
Billi Chambers is in her second year at Xavier after a 1-27 overall record and an 0-18 mark in BIG EAST play in 2023-24. The Musketeers return Aizhanique Mayo, Daniela Lopez, and Tae’lor Purvis, and welcome Loren Christie and four others.
This season, Xavier was again picked to finish last in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference.
The Musketeers are off to a significantly better start this season, but are still at the bottom of the BIG EAST Conference standings. Xavier enters Saturday’s contest with a 6-17 record overall and a 1-11 mark in conference play. Its victory over Butler on Jan. 18 snapped a BIG EAST regular-season 47-game losing streak. The Musketeers have lost five in a row since. Most recently, Xavier fell to Providence at the Cintas Center, 63-36, on Wednesday. Meri Kanerva currently leads the team with 10.1 points per game. Xavier currently ranks last in the BIG EAST in points scored per game, scoring margin and rebounding margin. It also commits the most turnovers in the league.
