I saw the question asked on the free board with some negative comments made about one beat writer in particular, Jerry Carino.
Since I have had experience with our last two coaches in a media like situation I would like to open up a forum here by voicing my comments and personal experiences.
I took the Trove over nine years ago coinciding with Gonzalez' hiring. The fact that I knew Gonzo to a small degree helped and gave me the opportunity to sit down with him for 2 hours and write the first exclusive story regarding our new coach.
Unfortunately during that time I started to see Gonzo's personality and although I could not comment on it I was truly worried.
That's the problem a writer or a blogger faces. How far will you go to get info and what will you suppress. It's a dilemma all media members face and although at the time I did not consider myself a part of the media I certainly faced a similar problem that they faced.
I'll continue next with the Gonzo years.....
