Listening to Cardinal Tobin at graduation right now and not once, but twice, mentioned Seton Hall and Villanova as being members of the Big XII. He never once mentioned the Big East. Good grief.
Good thing he wasn't tabbed for Pope! Not surprised.Totally disconnected. We're in trouble.
Did he say Big XII athletic conference or just Big 12? He may have been myopically referring to the 12 largest Catholic colleges, but any normal sports fan in America hearing the words Big 12 will assume the reference is to the Big 12 Conference.Did he say Big XII athletic conference or just Big 12? But if that same formula worked for all schools , we would still be near bottom of NIL among P5 schools as SHU probably bottom tier in size of alumni.I wonder how many alumni we have?If you take the past 55 years at conservatively 5,000 alumini per year that's 275,000.$6,000,000 per year NIL divided by 275,000 alumni thats $22 per year from each alumnus.Doesn't sound very good.Increasing, that to $100 per year would be $27M per year!
I realize this is crazy, non scientific math bur SHU ability to track alumni ,keep them engaged after graduation and generate contributions leaves a lot to be desired.
Can’t argue with you on that.He may have been myopically referring to the 12 largest Catholic colleges, but any normal sports fan in America hearing the words Big 12 will assume the reference is to the Big 12 Conference.
Well he mentioned that the Pope went to the wrong Big XII School and also mentioned basketball so I’m guessing he didn’t mean enrollment.Did he say Big XII athletic conference or just Big 12? 5,000 alumni per year isn't conservative, it's absurdly aggressive.I wonder how many alumni we have?If you take the past 55 years at conservatively 5,000 alumini per year that's 275,000.$6,000,000 per year NIL divided by 275,000 alumni thats $22 per year from each alumnus.Doesn't sound very good.Increasing, that to $100 per year would be $27M per year!

That would get us to 60,000 alumni or about $100 per alumnus. Are you happy with that?Do you think SHU is doing a good job with developing alumni support? That is the essence of my question not the veracity of the numbers.5,000 alumni per year isn't conservative, it's absurdly aggressive.
In recent years, the freshman class has been around 1,600 per year. Undergraduate enrollment for 2023-24 was about 6,100 -- which averages out to 1,525 per year.
If 75% graduate, that's 1,140 per year and I suspect that's on the high end.
We are horrible at developing alumni support! Don’t believe me? Just look at our giving percentage, it sucks. That would get us to 60,000 alumni or about $100 per alumnus. Are you happy with that?Do you think SHU is doing a good job with developing alumni support? That is the essence of my question not the veracity of the numbers.
Wait! You guys are leaving too now?Listening to Cardinal Tobin at graduation right now and not once, but twice, mentioned Seton Hall and Villanova as being members of the Big XII. He never once mentioned the Big East. Good grief.
I would imagine that number includes post-graduate and law school alumni.A quick Google search says that there are still over 100,000 living alumni.
Yes, I believe that is the all-in number.I would imagine that number includes post-graduate and law school alumni.
I certainly understand that thinking. But without a BE level team, does the school stay the same? I am doubtful.Donating to NIL is never going to happen for me - ever. Donating to academics will continue (at an increased amount).
