Hall and SJU tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 5th at SJU. Hall has had some
chances but haven't been able to put a big inning together.

Hall and SJU tied at 1-1 in the top of the 7th. Prendergast pitching
a good game escaping trouble in the 5th.

Game available to listen on the St. John's Athletic Website.

Pacillo pitches out of 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the bottom of the 8th. Hall with
a man on second and one out in the top of the 9th. Still tied at 1-1

Pirates lose 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th. With 2 outs and none on SJU gets
a double and a single to win. Tough loss for SHU.

The Seton Hall bats went dead in the last part of this game. They had chances
early, but could never get that clutch hit. The SHU baseball team is so up and
down at the plate. They can score 10 runs one day and zippo the next. They really
struggle in important games and have been off the mark in Sunday contests for
whatever reason this year.

Not a killer loss because they are still in good shape for 4th place. This loss probably
means no better than a 4th place finish in conference play. They have six BigEast games
left with Creighton at home and Villanova on the road. They need a strong finish to get ready
for an opening matchup on Creighton's home field at the BigEast Tournament.

Hopefully, they can do well at the BE Tournament. Right now this is an underachieving
program, I have to be honest about that. Maybe better days ahead.

Box Score

QUEENS, N.Y. – Senior Zach Prendergast (Horsham, Pa.) pitched six strong innings and junior Mike Alescio (Fair Haven, N.J.) collected three hits, but the Seton Hall baseball team fell to St. John's, 2-1, on Sunday.

After being shut out on Saturday, St. John's wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard today. The Red Storm struck for a run off Prendergast in the bottom of the first inning. The right-hander however, settled down nicely afterward.

The Hall struck back in the top of the fourth inning with a little two-out hitting. Junior Al Molina (Freehold, N.J.) led off with a double to left field. After advancing to third, Alescio singled up the middle to drive in Molina with the tying run.

Turning Point:
With the game locked at one, it was St. John's who rallied with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Senior Ryan Testani (Shelton, Conn.) quickly retired the first two batters he faced, but St. John's Michael Donadio followed with a two-out double. Jesse Berardi then sent the first pitch he saw into center field for a base hit to score Donadio with the winning run.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Prendergast allowed only one run on four hits over six strong innings. He walked four and struck out four in a no decision.
  • Alescio was the lone Pirate with multiple hits. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
  • Senior Anthony Pacillo (Lyndhurst, N.J.) pitched a perfect eighth inning with a strikeout.
  • Seton Hall left seven men on base, while St. John's left 11.
News & Notes:
  • Prendergast's start today is the 35th of his career, which ties him with teammate Shane McCarthy and former Pirate Charlie Puleo for eighth place on Seton Hall's career list.
  • Toke has now hit safely in 10 consecutive games. It's the longest current streak on the team.
  • Pacillo's appearance today was his first since March 26.
  • Pacillo's appearance today is the 69th of his career, which ranks ninth all-time at Seton Hall.
  • Seton Hall falls to 58-67 all-time against the Red Storm.
Next Up:
Seton Hall will be back in action on Friday, May 5 when it returns to Owen T. Carroll Field to begin a crucial three-game series against Creighton. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
