Five Pirates score in double figures, led by Kadary Richmond's 14

Newark, N.J. — A complete effort on both ends of the floor lifted the Seton Hall men's basketball team to a convincing 74-55 victory over Creighton on Friday evening at Prudential Center.

The Pirates (14-7, 5-6 BIG EAST) had five players score in double figures, led by sophomore Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who dropped 14 points and dished out seven assists. Conversely, Creighton only had two players reach 10 points and shot 36.2 percent from the field and 22.7 percent from three-point range.

How It Happened

The Pirates were hot from the start as senior Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) connected on a mid-range jump shot and graduate student Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) connected on a three-point bucket in transition that kick started an 11-0 beginning for The Hall.

Seton Hall would extend its lead to 23-3 with 9:44 in the first half and its defense allowed the Bluejays to score only one field goal in that stretch. The Pirates' largest lead of the first came on a three-pointer by graduate student Jamir Harris (North Brunswick, N.J.) with 1:21 before the half that made it a 24-point advantage, 35-11.

In the second half, a dunk by the Bluejays' Alex O'Connell cut their deficit to 13, 45-32, with 13:14 to go but Cale answered on his own with a pair of made free-throws and a traditional three-point play that pushed the lead back to 18, 50-32.

Creighton made one more run by making it a 15-point game with 4:30 to play before graduate student Alexis Yetna (Paris, France) nailed a dagger three-pointer that put the game out of reach.
