the church is such a scam I love it. I love how it's complete fantasy land and so many people are brainwashed by it.
You know what Tom my uncle was gay and ignorant people like this guy wouldn't let him live in peace. People need to understand that just because Its on a message board you can't spew hate and homophobic crap like this. He's not a young kid based on the time he's been on the board. I'll figure it out the Internet is a wonderful thing...
What are the rules on blocking homophobes Tom?

Thanks be to God, finally the Church is starting to haul in clerics who lead the faithful astray. "Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Cor.6:9-10
"...Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved." (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2357).
That was an early Church discipline. There is a distinction between a Church discipline and a doctrine. Disciplines can change. Doctrines do not.
The original intent of the post was to bash the Catholic Church and Archbishop Myers. When a poster challenges that, then suddenly people want the whole thread gone. Perhaps the truth hurts. Meanwhile, Pope Francis's comment "who am I to judge" was not a repudiation of Church teaching on the sinfulness of homosexual acts. It had a particular context. Pope Francis was making the valid point that nobody can really know the degree of culpability a person living a sinful lifestyle is responsible for. Some have been sexually abused. Others struggle with anxiety-driven compulsions. Some were raised in extremely dysfunctional families. Only God can judge the degree of culpability involved in any sin. Nonetheless, God has revealed (and human reason can also understand) that certain kinds of behavior are harmful to the good of the human person. This is why God forbids it. Conscience is not divine. It must be formed. Those who make no attempt to form their consciences and act on an erroneous conscience cannot absolve themselves from culpability and re-write the rules. The terrorists who took down the World Trade Center were following an erroneous conscience.
The Catholic Church loves and safeguards human reason (which is at the heart of natural law theory). There is a perfect handshake of faith with reason. But Divine Revelation is superior--but not contradictory---to human reason. Ultimately the Catholic faith is a revealed religion. Therefore any priest who claims that there ought to be dialogue about Divinely revealed teachings which are unchanging is misrepresenting the very nature of the Church. Pastoral care of those who are wounded should be centered in the truth.
I thought the thread was getting locked. Lol.
