Willard did a very good job at SHU. It didn’t translate into many NCAA wins. But he got us there plus he hung 2 BE banners. He’s at Maryland now. Let’s see how he does. We’ve got Sha. Hoping he does even better.

I don’t think Maryland gets into NCAA next year. If that happens, there will be lots of pressure on him to kill it in 2023.
Also expectation and goal are not always the same thing.
There is no way Willard expects his Maryland team to win a championship next year. A goal, of course. Coach speak for sure.

Even after making five NCAA tournaments here, there were plenty who would have happily driven him down I-95 to College Park.
I'm one of them. He got lazy and too comfortable again. Couldn't stand his offense and his demeanor.
I was happy with Willard here. The past 5-6 years have been good ones. And, I was very fearful of who we would have hired. We got lucky Sha got hot and the "national search" was avoided. And the anti Sha feelings some in the admin had before the SP run makes me wonder...

Yes, of course. But to your point on another thread, about our elevated relevance since 2016, I agree and I'm glad he was here and led that. I just feel like he plateaued (a few seasons ago) and I was very glad to move on. Now we'll see...You and I had that conversation.
