Could have said nothing at all…This gets brought up ALL the time..in his defense what is the guy supposed to say?
“Might mess this up but hope not…we’ll see”

So say nothing and an introductory PC…has that ever been done in the history of anything?Could have said nothing at all…
By nothing I mean no one forced him to use that phrase. There are plenty of other vague platitudes he could have used to express enthusiasm without having it thrown back in his face. You were positing he HAD to see say either this or whatever was your alternative that would have looked stupid. So say nothing and an introductory PC…has that ever been done in the history of anything?
The biggest mistakes were letting KR and DD get away and then recruiting a questionable group from the portal outside of Jenkins and Middleton.Once that's done you can't make chicken salad out of chicken s--t.Unfortunately,the ability to improve in the future is debatable given it's the same cook(Sha) and University (SHU).He said it bc it genuinely means a lot to him. He also spoke of his grandmother passing and being in SHU blue if I recall.
Sha has to reevaluate. He’s had a bad year. The fact we’re this bad is alarming. Keep it at one. But it won’t be for lack of effort and care if it doesn’t work out long term.
Impossible to forget that. It was very hard to watch. PJ could be rather volcanic.Remember the end of the first half in the E8 game vs UNLV when Barnea gave up a last second offensive rebound put back to put us down 5? PJ just screamed in his face as they were walking to the locker room. It was bad, and the TV cameras captured the whole thing.
PJ did the same thing to Leahy when he didn't box out for a defensive rebound at end of half in BET game at MSG.PJ didn't play favorites and he coached to win.Remember the end of the first half in the E8 game vs UNLV when Barnea gave up a last second offensive rebound put back to put us down 5? Barnea returned to Israel. Did not return for a 2nd season.Totally pathetic act by a coach.
The question to me is if we could’ve kept one by not worrying about depth. Idk. But Sha was hellbent in depth. The biggest mistakes were letting KR and DD get away and then recruiting a questionable group from the portal outside of Jenkins and Middleton.Once that's done you can't make chicken salad out of chicken s--t.Unfortunately,the ability to improve in the future is debatable given it's the same cook(Sha) and University (SHU).
We missed both and the depth we hired didn't pan out in most cases other than Jenkins and Middleton. So two strikes! The question to me is if we could’ve kept one by not worrying about depth. Idk. But Sha was hellbent in depth.
And Richmond was the one. But I don’t think there was any chance.
Like I said, the players (many of whom I knew) respected PJ as a coach, but did not like him as a person. [Ex. PJ sees player walking on campus - ignores him, but if PJ with someone else (ex. Recruit) and sees same player he acknowledges his existence]Meh, he was a coach. Shep was worse, in my opinion, but I didn't play for PJ. Most of the former players of both of these guys speak very highly of them, on the record. That kind of coaching works for some people, and not for others. I still think Sha is a player's coach.
Regardless of the talent level he can still coach them on defense, passing, running plays etc. Watch sone of the lower division schools with less talent than us - they still run offense, play D, and look smart doing it. And complaining about his players after games not playing D, playing for themselves etc. and saying things are going to change (which we have heard numerous times with nothing changing) does no good other then make him look small and providing excuses for another loss. He actually shrunk his player usage for a few games and things looked a little better. Then he puts 11 guys out there last night in the first half, starts the same center who has given us nothing every game he plays, pulls Aligbe who has seemed to figure some things out the past 2 games, etc etc. it’s like we are playing our first few games and figuring out who can do what - not 16 of them. This is just not constructive commentary and it’s getting tiring to see from posters that aren’t realistic.
No money to pay players and other teams taking your best players with more money.
It’s like bringing a AAA minor league team to the major leagues. That’s what Sha has right now.
