He was embarrassed in the first half for a pick six layup when the team had a nice rhythm going. At this point he’s not a good defender. Should he have played more than 11 minutes, maybe but I don’t see him as a consistent 15-18 minutes player yet. He is a developing player. He can make a shot when open. My point as I stated was that we were in an offensive shootout tonight and Wusu was throwing up brick after brick.

Leaving him in and keeping a better offensive player on the bench is inexcusable.

We gave up 41 points in the 1h and an even worse 50 in the 2h. I don’t know what the answer is on this team. Maybe it’s Felton. Maybe it’s not. But allowing Wusu to chuck like he’s Dawes of last year trying to break out of a slump ain’t it. Possibly worst thing that happened to Wusu (and SHU) was having the game of his life against DePaul. If I'm being honest, I found a graduate student senior who shot 3-15 and 1-8 in 38 minutes more embarassing than a freshman guard making a mistake.

One player potentially has a future here; the other does not. Do the math on this season and exercise logic.

DAW - not a great ball handler. Can he create his own shot or just chucks shots up whenever the opportunity arises? In either event, he seems to miss them at an alarming rate. He's been playing for what, 5 or 6 seasons now? Felton has been playing for 3 months. The season is over, take the lumps and let the kid get minutes and learn through experience.

I get those who want to play the freshman/sophomores substantial minutes to see what we have for the future and who we want to try and retain. How they perform in practice is no doubt impacting that too.

But without DAW's performance against Depaul we are still winless. Sha wants to win games now, and most nights it is going to be hard to assume DAW won't be one of the best 5 options on the court for at least some stretches, if not most of the game.

It can be a confidence killer if you play a freshman too many minutes when they aren’t ready. Most freshmen aren’t ready for that kind of physical play and intensity.

I’m all about getting Felton some minutes, but you can’t just give him 30 and expect a quality performance over those 30 min.

The problem with DAW is he'll give us DePaul, but also Fordham, Hofstra, Georgetown, and Rutgers. He's just never been the kind of player that should have the ball in his hands this much. But Sha threw zeros with Dual and Harmon, so what do we expect? I'd love to know what we're paying him, Dual, Harmon, and Toumi.

A team of Richmond, Jenkins, Coleman, Middleton, and then nobody would've been better than this.

I see Felton has a guy with talent and do think he should play more, but I don't think he's a better player than DAW at this stage. Better shooter? Yes, by far. Better ball hander? Yes, by far. But he's much worse in everything else. He also doesn't have Pitino's "lateral movement". He's a shade better than Jaquan Sanders IMO. I would be playing him more when it's clear DAW doesn't have a shot, like yesterday.

Totally ridiculous is right- Felton makes one mistake and is bench most of the game. Wusu makes 15 mistakes and plays the whole game! Jerry C needs to ask Sha why??

I totally understand that. The issue that concerns me is, this isn't years past where a kid commits here and then earns his keep over a few seasons. A line must be balanced between bringing an underclassmen along slowly and ensuring he doesn't feel disenfranchised and walks.

I get it, I'm not in the locker room or in practice. But if we think this kid has talent and a future here....we better hope he has a practical mindset and loves Sha. Otherwise, a lot of other kids in his shoes would probably just transfer somewhere else next year.
