So with Willard to UMD and Sha to SHU basically a formality, figured maybe we start a thread to discuss a possible staff. I'll just throw out some obvious names but hoping some others may be able to add more
Grant Billmeier - Would be great to keep Grant but figure it may be tough. I'd imagine St. Peters and Lafayette are interested in him as head coach and I'd guess Willard would be interested in bringing him to Maryland. Probably a long shot he's here
Ryan Whelan - Currently Sha's right hand man at St. Peters and Sha has been giving him tons of praise lately. I'd guess he's also in the mix for St. Peter's job, but if he didn't get it, I think he probably ends up on the SHU staff
Mike Rice - Probably a long shot but Sha and Rice are close. Would SHU allow Sha to bring him onboard? Does Rice still want to coach major basketball? He's currently with Team Rio which is a major AAU program in NJ so their is obvious value.
Duane Woodward - Would he stay with SHU? Feel like he will probably have lots of suitors. I like his Canada connections and the players seem to like him, but he hasn't been the recruiting ace we hoped for
Donald Copeland - A SHU Favorite son. If Grant and Duane are gone, I could see Donald staying to keep some consistency. He hasn't had time to establish himself yet but I see him becoming a good recruiter and he seems to be Kadary's go to guy on the bench
David Cox - No SHU connection but big time DMV recruiter was just let go as Head Coach at URI. I'd guess he'll have lots of suitors. He was at Rutgers for 5 years previously so definitely familiar with the area
Curious to hear people's thoughts and if anyone has any other names to throw out there. I figure with Sha likely to make much less than Willard, hopefully we can reinvest some of that money into the assistant coaching pool
