Won’t other big east schools get the same $$$$ from settlement? We will be still behind the 8 ball!
As I have previously suggested, we should not spend any NIL money next year but rather save it. Maybe the next year after too until we have a pot big enough that we can compete with Kansas, St John's, MIchigan etc.. Then we go and buy a team of top talent. And build an NCAA tourney team.

LOL on Zags article, nobody is GETTING anything from the settlement. What they are getting is the ability to SPEND money.
It's a fair point that allowing up to $20.5m direct payments is unlikely to help the Hall in a relative sense because all of the other schools can opt to spend up to that as well. And of course it is very hard to imagine the Hall spending anywhere near that amount. It could help vs smaller conference schools that aren't able/willing to spend millions a year. Within the BE and major conferences, it might make the gap even larger.
Shopping where others are not could be a way to get some steals before others catch on. How big is the foreign player market these days at the collegiate level? Basketball is a pretty popular global sport. Surely more players than there are roster spots if you know how to find them.
Of course, doing that takes money/resources too. Which brings us right back to the same problem. Ah well.

I was just going to say this....am I in crazy land? Zags article at best is extremely misleading, or at worst demonstrating he literally doesn't understand the settlement at all.
$3 million in revenue sharing for basketball-onlies will be below average. $4 million will be about average.
Yes, 2 seasons of empty arenas and disastrous play will really be helpful to the school. I am sure the conference will support that approach as well. Have you been at the arena the last few games? Depressing scene.

Are you just backing into this number based on expected football school outs? I saw that VCU will opt into $4-$5 million, but I haven't heard anything from other schools.
All football schools are expected to opt into the full $20.5M, and everything I've read suggests 75/15/10 will be the average allocation: 75% football ($15.4M), 15% MBB ($3.1), 10% all other ($2.0M).

But FMV of collective deals will not be part of the final settlement.
Agree, I've seen the football schools that are allocating the full $20.5M and it seems 17% - 20% on MBB - $3.5-4 Million.
Will any Big East schools who don't have football elect to fund more than that for MBB?
Will there be a handshake agreement among the BE schools to all use a similar Rev sharing range? Doubtful.
I'd love to see the BE teams stick it to the Power 4 Football Schools by allocating more than $3.5-4M as some of their coaches have feared.
In any event there will be hundreds of millions in new money from revenue sharing pumped into paying basketball players. I think this portal season will be the craziest yet.
That’s the key. I think the BE and other non football high mid majors go really big with revenue sharing. Consistently $5 million IMO. The P4 schools will try to make up any gap with NIL $$$ from their collectives. It will be interesting to see if the Fair Market Value provision of the settlement will be effective.

Yes, many different aspects of the House Settlement. For those that haven't been following and were confused by Zags contradicting article, here are some bullet points.
1) NCAA must pay $2.8B in back revenue-sharing to former players.
2) This money comes from NCAA money, nothing from College Football so non-P5 teams are carrying a larger burden of their total revenue
3) Big East must pay about $6-7 Million per year for the next 10 years so SH will pay roughly $600,000 per year for back payments
4) For players moving forward, NCAA agrees to share up to 22% of revenues (again non FBS money) which equals $20.5M per year
5) Schools can elect how much revenue they want to share up to the max.
6) P5 Football schools who are allocating the max are giving about 75% to Football, anywhere from 17-20% ($3.5-4M) to MBB starting in June 2025
7) BE schools can elect to give any amount to MBB up to the full $20.5M
8) Its unknown what BE schools will do but its believed they will closely match the P4 schools by allocating approx. $3.5-4M in MBB rev sharing.
9) NIL deals from Collectives will still be permitted although they are supposed to be limited to FMV - Fair Market Value.
10) Most believe the FMV provision will be impossible to impose and will get challenged and beaten in court. As a result expect to see Rev Sharing AND full-tilt Collective NIL this year.
Gets a little trickier for those schools with other high profile sports, such as baseball (Vandy, LSU, USC, etc etc), gymnastics (LSU, etc) and so on...as I am sure those athletes can and will garner some NIL...so they would have to spread it over more sports
