SHU Stats to Date

For those criticizing Whitehead's three point shooting. He hits better from range than from inside the arc. Imagine what his shooting percentage would be if he took quality shots from the field.

Awesome potential. Just has to learn the game better.

How many readers would have had Ish leading the team in minutes played?

Defense and rebounding keeping him on the court. Hopefully his offense will improve as he gains more experience.

Free throw shooting an issue. Much worse early on than I would have expected. This team should be shooting around 70%.

Turnovers slowly coming down. Lack of assists still an issue. Need better ball and player movement.

most pleased with DRod especially his three point percentage. He has been Terrific.

I'm surprised Whitehead has gotten off to such a good start shooting from outside. Let's hope it continues.

Desi and Ish have been revelations and much needed. Desi's been the team's best all-around player in many ways.

The A:T mark needs a lot of work. I think the only game it was reasonably strong was Ole Miss. You're right, HallDan, the turnover rate is way down and that's a positive. We lost the ball 20+ times each against Dartmouth and Wagner.

Even with the moderate improvement, we're still just 279th in the country in turnover rate.

Makes you wonder why he didnt see the floor last year. I know it's the past, but it is amazing how KWs handleing of Sina messed up everything last year. In hindsight Sina should have been the backup guard with Desi being a SF and Ish being the backup PF. With Sina seeing so much time it moved IW to the 3 and desi to the 4.

I think many of our fans strongly underestimate Whitehead's shooting.

To me the question is quality of the shot, not his ability to hit it.

On turnovers Derrick Gordon has been a disappointment so far but hopefully he is just learning to play with a whole new cast and things will get better. And Angel has been a turnover machine. That has to stop. Isaiah and Khadeen have managed to have a positive A/TO ratio just barely so hopefully that improves.

If this team can take care of the ball and raise their assist ratio a little and improve their foul shooting it would go a long way in winning some games. Ish has been impressive so far and I only see him getting better. Hopefully our guards find a way to get the ball down low a little more and Ish and Angel learn to work together too.

In the Georgia game it was the first real time I saw the team this year focus on defending for long periods of time. That is gonna pay dividends if they keep it up. These stats while not great are not all that surprising for where we are in the season. I'm hopeful they will improve.

Here's to hoping Khadeen can find his outside shot as the season progresses. 2nd most attempts on the team and shooting 26%, I'm hoping that percentage ticks upwards.

Agree with you strongly. While our TO's have decreased we still have a negative assist-to turnover ratio and that is never a good thing. My concern as we move toward league play is that defenses will increasingly pressure IW. That will complicate matters for our already shaky half court game.

Holy cow , Ish leading in minutes. And his rebounding is darn good. That class we brought in last year is off the charts. :)

IW still needs to learn patience and look for good shots and good passing lanes. He tends to look to make things happen and drives into double coverage and he gets in trouble. He definitely has the ability to be great but has to make better decisions. Turnovers too high and asst/to ratio not good. His basketball IQ is high so he should definately work this out. When he does he will be super special player.
