Hall Gals win on the road 59-38. Never in doubt with a coast to coast lead. Uconn up next. They need to win the other three remaining games to finish 3rd in the conference. Hall have @SJU, DePaul & @Xavier. They have a one game lead over Marquette who also have one left with UConn.

PIRATES BEAT PROVIDENCE WIRE-TO-WIRE, 59-38

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
Four players scored at least nine points, but none more than 13, as the Seton Hall women’s basketball team used a team-wide effort to defeat Providence, 59-38, on Sunday.

Seton Hall never trailed and used a 13-0 run spanning the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second to pull away from the Friars.

Freshman Jada Eads (Orlando, Fla.) had a game-high 13 points to go with four rebounds and two steals. Graduate student Faith Masonius (Spring Lake, N.J.) nearly had her first double-double of the season, instead she finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) and Ramani Parker (Fresno, Calif.) finished with nine points apiece for The Hall.

THE STORY:

Both teams were too reliant on the three-point shot early, combining to go just 2-for-15 from downtown in the opening quarter. Leading 7-5, The Hall closed out the quarter with a 9-0 run, and a pair of made free-throws by Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick (New London, Conn.) gave the Pirates a 16-5 lead after 10 minutes.

The Hall held Providence without a made field goal from the 5:17 mark of the first quarter until the 5:40 point of the second quarter. In that time, The Hall stretched its lead to 20-7. The Pirates forced 14 first-half turnovers and took a 32-18 lead into halftime. The Pirates had 16 points off turnovers in the first half compared to just two for the Friars.

The Pirates were called for eight fouls in the third quarter, which led to 10 free-throw attempts for Providence, but The Hall was actually able to grow its lead to 48-27 after three quarters. Eads hit a jumper to cap a 6-0 spurt that ended the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Providence never got closer than a 19-point deficit.
