Is it worth going harder after 5 good starters w a weak bench? Can u allocate 4M for starters and 1M on bench players. 4M wont get u great players but maybe 5 up and coming players

Doesn't matter. They only practice together a week before the season starts anyway.
Funny, actually not, but Sha is a coach who complains of lack of practice and takes time with all new players etc etc but look across the country and 2/3 of the teams in the same boat. Just filled with excuses

Love Sha but he better be looking in the mirror real hard, willing to listen to people and make real changes…. Because the job that was to important to screw up is exactly that….

The only problem with this is we have basically zero dollars until revenue sharing gets approved by the courts. We have next to zero collective $$

Better to get it right with good players than to rush and get the wrong players.

Unfortunately I don't see Seton Hall involved with any players that would change the program, just average at best players demanding above average pay.
Not even to "change" the program SPK145 -- we do not appear to be involved with any Players that can improve upon that which was run out last Year. All most all the other Big East Teams have signed fairly well regarded Players while still involved with Roster fillers. The over 60 players mentioned as being "contacted" by SHU are to a Player not considered needle movers -- few offer as much as Middleton-- and Hall needs too many .
It hurts to see Players like Ian Jackson (UNC) being a Johnnies fave and the HALL not at all involved ( Same for Elliot Cadeau going to Michigan ).
SHU (Sha) has taken a path which is polar opposite of the other Big East Schools
I believe that the entire approach is wrong and mis-guided and certainly subject to Fan criticisms . Three weeks have been wasted and Fans are given little to no reason for optimism when , after last season, optimiism is so needed.

A big factor here - Nico’s camp reached out to Oregon, Lanning and Heupel are friendly so Lanning (supposedly) let him know they were sniffing around. He’s not that good, most of his TD’s came against garbage competition. Some coaches smartening up and realizing the same methods that make you can also break you. Better for Tennessee to move on.

Has the rule change with respect to foreign players get NIL money? Or not getting NIL money? If ICE does not come into play and they are not going to get NIL maybe we should find 5 starters from other countries who can play right away and make us competitive?

This should be happening more often. These players cannot continue to have it both ways.
I think it does more than we think, it just doesn't get publicized or talked about as openly as this one did.

Especially with older, more established coaches who can get a suitable replacement or replacements.

Rule? What is this rule that you speak of? We don't need no stinkin' rules!

Honestly coming here is a gamble for any player even if we overpay.

We have a coach who did one of the worst jobs in the country last year, who throws his players under the bus, and runs a terrible offense. All of those things hinder a players ability to make more money the following year. Also, last year Sha went 0 for in making any player better so that can’t help at all

hard to refute any of what you said and if these flaws aren't corrected in the next two years it would be time for a change. The old days of screaming at guys and expecting return love is over. He must inevitably work on self accountability, the points you make are disheartening. Per Jerry's above article it seems he recruited a group of dummies who could not grasp his system but that's on him

Facts. The only initiatives I’ve seen the last two years more or less have been apparel sales. How much really comes from that? Pennies

Other than that maybe a few dinners, ticket events, etc. one off things

I agree with u , but what do u suggest. I suspect and hope there has been a different strategy for the general donor group and the major contributors. apparently no results. Obviously , other than what Mike has done, there has been little. Although as we heard , Mc Bride was a good guy but he was in a new ball game with a new contributory base and was to green to get results. Our fault but understandibly , a good sales person or asset gathers as I see them sell themselves better than what they are suppose to sell hence a two year window and you shoot them. They did, so zero to show. Some schools got it right , doesn't appear we did. The schools that mastered dark money and I don't have a problem with that, got it right. You know them

But two years ago I thought Richmond, Davis and Bediako all got better. Dawes came on late in the year too. You have to be fair.

I don’t disagree with the point that we have little money. That’s a fact. But how much is lack of creativity and effort vs. people just not supporting the cause?

How many people here are a guardian subscription donor through Onward Setonia?

Or how about the Hall Dan campaign last year?

Or the annual giving day campaign which is Pirate Blue but now has a connection to NIL. And previously would still be an example of giving

Our biggest issues imo are leadership is always a year (or more) behind and our fanbase is small and a high percentage of that small fanbase doesn’t open their wallets. Why doesn’t the fanbase support fundraising more? Could probably identify a hundred reasons on this thread, but I think it starts with how the school has or hasn’t engaged students for the last few decades and the type of experience the school has delivered students

Godswill & Dual both improved last year. Sha has some flaws but developing players who buy in isn’t one of them.
You’re just assuming the guys who buy in improved and the reason the other guys didn’t improve is because they didn’t buy in. Do we know that for sure?

I’m fairly certain because no one else improved. Playing time certainly helped in their improvement. In Dual’s case it was due to Jenkins injury but he was always a plus defender.

As you are aware, pt is earned in practice. Based on the way they performed at the start of the year I doubt Sha would have continued playing them so much if they weren’t buying in.

im just waiting for there to be a a loophole where a guy transfers mid tournament and ditches his team. like they do for football bowl games. better yet, just give a player money to sit out vs their opponent hah

With SHU it appears injuries were earned in practice.

I'm just going to assume we're screwed again.
Probably. The staff should be all over any possible high school talent left, "Might" be better than 3rd level Portal transfers left? If Sha has to get on a plane to talk with a recruit and his family, then he needs to do it. Also, grab an international plug and play if need be. Not enough talent as is to even have a BAD team.
