If nothing else, maybe the defense has to cover each of our 5 starters now. The loss is unacceptable for a 13th ranked team - we were outrebounded by one of the worst rebounding teams, torched in pick and roll offense and were content to stand around and watch lesser players slam dunk rebounds that would have been ours with boxing out.

But we have another 6-8 forward who can shoot so let’s play Ish and let him shine. He plays defense better than most and doesn’t take any plays off. Let’s see which Pirate team will show up next game vs. Georgetown.

Agree. Game was over by then. But he did look smooth so something to watch.

A good development for sure. Ish was starting to play at a higher level before
his suspension. It's taken him a few games to get back into the swing of it. I don't
mind him off the bench because we're not getting much scoring from the reserves. It creates
some balance. The question is does it hurt the overall defensive intensity of the starting unit
to have him off the bench?

I think its time to move ish back into the starting five. Nzei is a good player to come off the bench and help on the offensive end but hes a liability on defense. He seems a step or two too slow on the pick and roll defense and cant keep up with more athletic fowards like Hauser last night.

If ish can continue to step outside and hit threes he will open the floor up for the rest of the team and we have our best defender on the floor.

Agree. Nzei is good offensively but weak defensively. If Ish can dunk when he gets it inside he would be better offensively. His shooting looked relaxed and like he's been hitting that shot for years. He did hit his first two when we were still in the game. His form looked great.

You get the same effort from Ish every night consistently. I think our guards are struggling with their defensive assignments and that is hurting their offense. Desi has the potential to be an incredible defender but he comes and goes defensively. And Angel is Angel.

This team needs to play like Ish - that should be their mantra.

Ish also had 2 MONSTER blocks last night - he trapped the ball against the backboard on the 2nd one
After Rhode Island burst our pre-NIT bubble, Willard was quoting as saying Ish jump starts our defense and therefore was reinstated into the starting lineup. Then the suspension happened - now it’s time to follow through on what is best for the team. Ish helps our defense immensely and has a nice touch outside. Mike is great coming off the bench - we need the octopus in there - Ish - to guard multiple guys.
