and we can see what we're working with.

Carrington
Powell
Gordon
Thomas
Soffer (I imagine this schollie switches to Madison Jones & Soffer leaves)

Rodriguez
Singh
Ish
Delgado
Nzei
Anthony
Carter
Anderson (And this can switch to Taurean Thompson if he commits)

Or maybe Anderson's schollie simply moves to Jones, TT doesn't come here and Soffer stays. Anderson goes to law school and stops wasting our time.

No pg / play maker / crunch time player.

EDIT: Carrington has proven that he can hit big shots under pressure, but can he absolutely take over a game in the final 5 minutes the way star players do? Time will tell.

agree on the pg part, but Carrington has shown the ability to hit big shots in clutch situations. He or Desi will be our go-to player. Both can create their own shot, they just have to get even better at it in their junior years. I'm not thrilled with the notion compared to what we had in IW, but it def. is possible.

The comment about Anderson is completely uncalled for. Without IW I think the key is to establish an inside game and play inside-out. With IW we could put the ball in his hands and let him make a play. A lot of teams do well with a bunch of combo guards. Good ball movement, solid D, and getting out in transition for easy buckets. It would be nice to have IW back but no reason we can't do that stuff without him.

No reason to make that remark about Anderson. He put in his time with his demanding academic responsibilities.

Plus they are fairly good foul shooters as I.W. was.

KC carried us in first two games of Big East tournament. He will make a huge jump this season along with AD

I'll take Carrington and Desi as crunch time players and day and last spring we all said pg was our problem cause isaiah couldn't play point. This is the best returning team we have had in decades.

I wonder if Ish becomes more offensive oriented.

Remember he was taking like 500 jumpers everyday last season in "preparation for a bigger offensive role" this year.

I missed something. I thought Powell takes Gordon's ship and now if Jones comes, he takes Isaiah's?

I think him improving his offensive game is critical now. Love the kid overall, and obviously his defensive game, just need a little more from him offensively.

I remember him tweeting he was going to take 1,000 FTs after a game in which he had a rough day at the line, but it's possible he said both.

Several key questions face this team w/o Isaiah returning at the point , the key one being what we get out of the point. Thomas's suspension was a player we could ill afford to lose and him missing the first semester and not being able to practice with the team makes me wonder how effective he'll be when he becomes eligible. Jones remains an unknown quality and his numbers don't stand out. Moving KC to the point means you have to rely on a freshman at the two .

The failure to bring in a big means you have Angel l, Ish and Nzei as players who have proven they belong in the BE but Carter and Anderson remain unknowns as to what they can contribute.

Mostly agree with this sentiment. Backcourt is unquestionably weaker. I also want to see some evidence that the "combo guards at point works", as others have suggested in this thread. IW might have been a combo guard, but he was also a McD AA who could do it all (shoot, distribute, drive, draw fouls). Point to who on the roster can do all that. Madison Jones?

I don't see a lot of tourney teams without proven point guards. People will hype right now that we can do it, but when freshman act like freshman, and when kids who haven't played in the better part of two years don't live up to expectations, we'll all be asked to take a breath and lower expectations. Frontcourt will hopefully be better as Desi, Ish, and AD are a year older. Center remains thin with backups that aren't proven BE players.

Thomas can practice with the team during the fall semester, it's the second semester of his sit-out transfer year.

Madison Jones hasn't played in a year and half as well.

Can desi and Carrington create their own shots? Desi I don't think so. Carrington could turn into that player
Go watch the replays of games. Desi took his man often, got in the key or corner and finished.

No doubt backcourt is worse, bur the extra year will make the frontcourt far better imo. And the addition of cheese and expected rounding to form of veer might make us a better deep shooting team.

I don't expect every guy to take a giant step, but all four starters, veer, Mike and carter all could show major improvement. Bring it on.

What's the sense of Jevon Thomas sitting out playing the first semester? You either think his behavior is egregious enough to kick him out of school or you don't and have him eligible to play the first semester.

Is his eligibility to play first semester capable of changing or set in stone?

he was kicked out of the school initially, and this was the compromise that was worked out. So, if you're on his side, you're lucky we have him at all. Remember, he CHOKED OUT a kid and the cops were called. He's lucky he still able to go to class at all, nevermind play ball. It's nice to have the perks of a DI athlete on a major program (you think a random junior student would be afforded the same compromise?)...yet all we hear about is how tough it is on these athletes cuz they don't get paid cash to play. Laughable.

Obviously the staff see a dire need for an experienced PG (smartly, mind you) to play alongside the very talented juniors and then seniors next season. So they need JT bad, as he is the best option at this point for PG. Plus, the staff has always liked JT since they recruited him for years and then kept up the relationship even after he went to K State.

I don't necessarily like any of this from a black & white, right or wrong perspective, but I certainly get it from a win-at-all-costs perspective that programs like SHU really have no choice to be in.

I thought he was suspended from all team activities until the spring semester because of his conduct suspension..

So what are we waiting for regarding the possibility of a few players moving on. Schools out, summer session ready to begin...shouldn't we
know something by now???

Good point about either kicking him out, or not applying such a stringent penalty. An entire semester (and almost half a season) is pretty harsh, and seems to support the limited info we have re: what exactly took place.

We are waiting for the school to:
1) Confirm Madison Jones
2) Confirm whoever leaves to open up a ship for Jones

Then we are waiting for:
1) TT to decide what he is going to be doing in September

For what it's worth. I imagine Zach got the PG thing straight from the horse's mouth.

Spoke to Khadeen Carrington. Excited for Isaiah Whitehead and eager for opportunity to be the guy at Seton Hall. #shbb #hallin

@_timmer_ Khadeen is going to be the PG.
For the record, Zach is not using me as his source for this info, though I have written it here fifty times...lol

Well since JT can't play until mid/end of December, that won't be the starting lineup for the OOC schedule.
Agree, thought it was kind of funny, but with it being national guy it makes sense he would put that with little research

NCAA transfer rules state yiu must be in residence at your new school for a full academic year before being eligible to play.

Since he was kicked out of school for the spring semester and summer sessions, his full sit-out year will be last year's fall semester and next year's fall semester.

Got it, thanks Steve.

Carrington/Powell/Design/Sonogo/Angel for non-conference. Swap Powell for Thomas depending on how the team parts going into the Big east

Stone and he's lucky he's getting another chance at all. Hope he realizes that.

Kid has talent. Super quick and a bitch on defense. But he has to curb the attitude to reach his potential.
