Hard to put your finger on any one thing responsible for these changes but the educational process is definitely high on the list of possible causes. Of course money is the root of all evil, so it’s not hard to assume that the introduction of the word trillion during budget talks has something to do with the rot of our nation as well.
IMO, there are multiple factors that have contributed (breakdown of the family unit, social media/MSM opinion news, lack of accountability, etc.). All of the precipitous declines were alarming, but the one that struck me most was "community involvement" (47% to 27%). Some of the most fundamental issues need to be addressed by the community at the local level (education, affordable housing, law enforcement/safety) and if people don't think community involvement isn't' important, all those will suffer.
The biggest factor is technology/social media, by far. Social media amplifies the most extreme voices and people who don't know any better take that as gospel. It's a domino effect.
Think about it. It allows someone from anywhere to communicate directly and instantaneously with someone else from anywhere in the world without making a phone call. Before social media, you'd never even know the other person existed, nevermind cared about what they had to say or their views on anything.
The same applies to us and boards like this. If nobody on here knew each other in person to begin with, or never interacted in person at a Seton Hall game, you'd never know about them or their views.
