NOTES YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Entering a key stretch of games where it will play two of its final three regular season contests at home, the Seton Hall men's basketball team will play its third ranked opponent in five games on Friday night as the Pirates welcome No. 16 Xavier to Prudential Center.
- The Pirates fell by just three points at Xavier in the first meeting back on Dec. 20, 73-70, as The Hall held the Musketeers to 25 percent shooting from distance, their lowest pct. of the season at the time and still their second lowest output of the season.
- The injury bug has bit the Pirates recently as glue player Dre Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) has been out since Jan. 28 with a right ankle sprain and starting point guard Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) exited seven minutes into the game at UConn on Feb. 18 with a back injury.
- The Pirates are 81-61 (.570) all-time at Prudential Center against BIG EAST competition.
- The Pirates are 9-4 at Prudential Center this season and 5-3 in BIG EAST games.
- Seton Hall has played one of the most difficult schedules in the country as KenPom ranks the Pirates' slate as the 19th toughest in Division I and its NET SOS ranks 24th.
- Seton Hall leads the BIG EAST in scoring defense (64.4 ppg) and field goal pct. defense (41 pct) while ranking second in 3PT defense (30.1 pct).
- In BIG EAST play, Seton Hall is tied with Creighton for the league lead in points allowed per game (66.8), ranks second in field goal defense (42.6 pct) and third in three-point defense (31.5 pct).
- The Pirates rank 13th in KenPom adjusted defensive efficiency.
- The Pirates are 15-3 this season when they hold their opponents to under 70 points.
- In Holloway's last 39 games as a head coach, his teams have allowed just 62.5 points per game and only 11 opponents have scored more than 70 points.
- Graduate student KC Ndefo (Elmont, N.Y.) is the anchor of Seton Hall's defense and he has the most blocks of any active player in a power conference with 364.
- Senior Tyrese Samuel (Montreal, Quebec) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after posting his second consecutive double-double against Georgetown (15 points, 10 rebounds) and tying to the team high in points with 16 at No. 20 UConn.
- Junior Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) leads the Pirates in rebounding (5.8 rpg) and assists (4.8) in BIG EAST play and ranks second in scoring (12.6 ppg).
- Senior Al-Amir Dawes (Newark, N.J.) is averaging 16.8 points over his last six games and the Pirates are 14-6 when Dawes scores in double figures.
