This year the LA Dodger's have spent $1.778 Billion on player acquisitions as the cost of signing players sets new records every year. Personally I can see the same type of escalation impacting the college ranks as well . Once you turn the money faucet on I don’t see how you turn it off unless there’s a meaningful and strictly enforced cap put in place.

Only way to save college athletics is to separate teams into new leagues (which will ruin some rivalries) by salary cap. Then realign every ten years based on last 2 years average NIL whether up or down.

And the leagues would be different for every sport

I don’t know what anybody has for NIL but would anybody complain about a basketball league of

Also market dynamics. Look what drives their revenues.

This whole thing exploded because the money the NCAA was raking in as a result of growing revenue and market demand was astronomic. Ironically for Seton Hall, it was the original Big East at the forefront of such growth movement with ESPN 40 years ago.

There is huge demand, lots of money in the industry, and lots of wealthy contributors who feel such personal connections to universities that they contribute. Seton Hall has always lacked the recognition, institutional support, mobility to make those connections. IDK why. Maybe some poverty culture from the fundamental Catholic legacy, maybe too much cronyism and not enough outsiders with power to wake it up, maybe all the above, maybe something else, but it's lacking.

the ncaa got money. the schools got money. the coaches got money.

if 20 yrs ago the ncaa said colleges can pay athletes up to 50k a yr in addition to the ship...how many would say that is a good idea.

So does Nova. One of the best in the BE it’s been rumored.

I’m sure Cuse does too.

And it was speculated that Providence has strong NIL too.
