Hall vs St John’s has been switched to MSG.
No way in a zillion years they would have done that if this year’s SHU team was any sort of threat. Oh well.

St. John’s is winning and tickets are in high demand. The cheapest seat at Carnesecca in lower level before switch were going for a lot on StubHub

The game is going to draw 18,000 on a Saturday for Senior Day.

That is an extra 13,000 tickets sold. A lot of money to be made. And a lot more NIL merchandise will be sold at Garden over Carnesecca.

I’d do it, too. It’s just that SHU being lousy makes the move that much easier for them. There’s a reason why last year’s game was at UBS and this year was scheduled for Carnesecca.

MSG was booked with another event that date and i believe st johns was hoping to promote ubs for their Long Island followers

Also there is a NCaA tourney component. I believe MSG is not considered a home court now for St John's. Saw something earlier this week or last.

SJU is well past the point of MSG being a home court. This will be their ninth home at MSG.

MSG is not an NCAA site this year. Newark is the East regional host.

They seem to schedule MSG based on (a) historical rivals/fan bases/consistently or projected top of the league teams and (b) draw.

I think we got UBS last year and Louie's place this year because of the combination of both.

But now with them drawing like crazy, I'm sure the MSG venue is worth it for us.

For NCAA purposes the big east tournament games have been switched from home games for St. Johns to neutral site games. That might be what you’re referring to.
