St. John’s building a super team while SHU is struggling to build… a team.

Find us a sugar daddy who's willing to pay whatever it takes to see us win and we can buy those players too. Crowdfunding and operational revenue will never compete with what Repole is giving over there.
How are Creighton, Georgetown, and Xavier doing it, all of whom were higher in that top 10 portal "spending" list that was posted yesterday or the day before by Evan Miya (granted, based on "estimates" since no one really has a clue what these kids get or who is spending what specifically).
I don't know what their resources are but unless they also have a mega-donor or 2 I doubt they'll finish in SJU's spend territory.
The one possible exception is Creighton - consistently selling out an 18k seat arena is the one sustainable path to affording the roster budgets we see floating around. Of course we do have that capacity, but we're nowhere near filling it up.

What reason do you think we'll be able to operate at even mid level?
Should finding a major donor(s) not be priority #1 of the athletic department? I’m sick of the deflections. Yes, I’m sure they are trying their hardest but this is a results oriented business and clearly we are falling further and further behind.

why are we so cheap? We are an established University in this NYC/NJ market with many wealthy alumni, Saint Johns campus is crappier than ours is, we have many successful alumni in our University in so many fields.... How is "Hillbilly Creighton and Butler" as well as snow covered Marquette get it done when us "hustlers" cannot?
Play in lower level league vs traditional foes (Fordham, Manhattan, St. Pete’s etal) Hopefully, the team will be dominated by 4 year student athletes who will be proud to represent their University and earn a degree therefrom.
SJU has 1 alum that will support a deplorable coach and wants to win at all costs. He’s flushing $$ down the 🚽 since SJU will never win the NCAAs. “Hillbilly Creighton’s” campus is beautiful & adjacent to downtown Omaha. Residents there love Creighton unlike yokels in Maplewood/So. Orange.
You are so off base if you think Repole is only guy funding STJ NIL. There are several
high power players (respectfully want to remain anonymous) who are major contributors.

That is a loser mentality. And the end of Seton Hall basketball as a major Div. 1 player if that were to happen. Would never recover from that move.
Fordham Manhattan and St. Peter’s are inconsequential in the college basketball world.

Well the reality is SHU has been inconsequential in the college basketball world for a very long time only a lot of you have not come to terms with it. That has been the norm here.
Oh and us being consequential any time soon or even in the distant future is a pipe dream at the moment.
Didn't. Got my cap and disappointed the watch order got refunded. If you don't want to contribute, then you lose any right to complain. And I hate the idea of NIL.
Not sure that Butler and Marquette have more NIL than we do. But Creighton has like more than double our endowment. The major league sports in Nebraska are Nebraska Cornhuskers football and Creighton Blue Jays basketball. They are their equivalent of the Giants and Jets.
SH right now is Div. 1. Yahoo! A major player? Be serious. Being in the BE doesn’t make a team a major player. SH, unfortunately, was an afterthought when the BE was founded. Remember RU turned the BE down (their mistake) & the BE picked SH as its LAST original member. How often do you hear SH mentioned as a major D-1 player? Once ever 10+ years or more, maybe. Spare me.
You can say the same about most other Div 1 teams. There’s a handful of teams that are competitive every year, and then everyone else gives it a run every few years. Comparatively we’ve been on the top end of those teams.

Cmon with this baloney. We were among a handful of schools with 9 consecutive years of .500 or better in-conference record as recently as...2 years ago. You want off-board, go, but stop being maudlin.
This is about us not Rutgers. And how many times did we finish 1st in the Big East during the past 20 years and how many times did we win the BE tourney? This has not been a past 20 years of excellence in my opinion. There is tons of room for improvement. If we can't do better than maybe we are in the wrong league for what we can bring to the table.
They should considering the cost to NJ taxpayers yearly to continue their quest for relevance for the last 50 years. Vanity is a magazine, not a reason to fail.
Of course there is room for improvement. St. John's had a much worse past 20 years than SHU did -- am I not allowed to compare them, too? Lots of griping from people unwilling to step up and support the cause. Most schools don't have a Repole, so in addition to the revenue share, SHU has to raise funds to compete with conference peers. We've been a distant 2nd to recruits at Villanova and Uconn for these past 20 years, and now, more than ever - the disparity is money.
You act as if everyone here complaining doesn’t support the lost cause. Just throwing assumptions out there because you bought a cute little hat and watch. Find a different angle because my guess is most of the people here complaining do give what they can afford to this broken system.

If you think it's a lost cause, what is the need of rehashing it 20 times a day? You've said your piece, everyone has heard it ad nauseum, you can go on to something else, somewhere else.
