I've read over last few weeks that there's an effort by the White House and many senators to grant thousands of green cards to immigrants who want to come to the U.S. to work in STEM jobs.
None of the articles says that every qualified American seeking a STEM job is employed full time. None of the articles and none of the elected officials say that every college grad with a science or tech degree has a job.
I've also noticed that many tech companies such Microsoft have let go of thousands of workers.
I want to ask those of you who work for STEM organizations or in STEM teaching jobs whether you have trouble recruiting and hiring Americans. Are all your students employed full time?
Although not STEM related, we have the infamous case of Disney forcing laid off workers to train their replacements who were from India. See the two NY Times stories.
