NEW YORK – Seton Hall men's golf junior Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team on Monday.

Sun took a major step forward as a lineup regular during the 2022-23 year. The junior was part of the Pirates' lineup in all 10 tournaments and led the team with a 73.18 stroke average, which ranked ninth-best in the BIG EAST Conference. Sun had career-highs with three Top-10 finishes and nine sub-par rounds. The highlight of his year came right away when he won the Alex Lagowitz Memorial to open the fall season. In the victory, Sun shot a remarkable 11-under-par, 67-68-70-205, which is tied for the second-lowest par-72, three-round score in program history. Furthermore, his 11-under-par tied for the most strokes under par ever for a Pirate. For his efforts, Sun was named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week.

Sun and the Pirates will return to tournament play this fall.

Own a home in Danville, so it’s nice to see a “local” player do well. Congrats!
