Syracuse!!!!

There are other leagues where SHU can take that approach -- the Patriot League for one. The Big East is about winning. Alma Mater should choose what it wants to be. If they choose to go to a lower level, and play their games at Walsh, it would cost less to run the program, be more fun for the fans because the pressure to win will drop, and also send the message that academics rule. True fans will stick with the team and accept that it's just about fun.

If they stay in the Big East and keep losing, it sends the signal that the school accepts mediocrity. (They are 11 point underdogs today!)

I'm sorry, but very few saw the news about the medical school - a GREAT move for the school's future - compared to the many more who saw that Gibbs got suspended.... Why take the reputational hit Division 1 sports inevitably brings if winning's not a priority? It shapes perceptions among prospective students and could be a long term liability more so than a positive.

Nobody is out of a job, as a school they can only have 2 recruiters off-campus at a time instead of the normal 4.

Seton91, The school's relationship with the Archdiocese of Newark is one of its great assets. The Catholic nature of the school in no way harms its ability to excel at basketball. It just amazes me how religious bigotry can be so irrational.
