A wild week with the collapse of the Assad regime. Aleppo fell in four hours; rebels came into the Christian Valley and met with church leaders in each town to request that they notify everyone that they they asked that no one support the Assad regime and don't raise weapons...it was very orderly. al Jolani is recognized as the leader of the rebels, but don't expect him to be named leader (interim or long term). Would not expect any elections for at least a year but encouraging that those that were displaced to Turkey and Lebanon are returning already. Looks like a combination of hope and concern. Hope in that Assad is out and concern as you may regret the next leader.

Can't tell the players without a program...... From what I've read you have HTS as one of the groups of Syrian rebels with a history of ties to Al Qaeda.... they are identified as a terrorist group by US then there is the Syrian National Army which I understand is a collection of militias that are supported by Turkey. They have been at odds with each other over the years... and it's unclear how the power transfer will take place and who will govern Syria going forward. A bit of a mess. I'm sure there are more groups to mention, but these 2 are noted in a Guardian article.

I work with a colleague that emigrated from Syria over 25 years ago and still has family there, so I was really interested to get his perspective on this. He's the one that gave me the information I posted above. He is also very concerned about the various factions, but he felt they are also getting some "coaching" to work together. He believed most if not all of them do want our troops to stay there for the time being as well. The next twelve months will tell us all we need to know.

I'm sure Joe Biden has his ear to the ground to get the best intel to pass on to Trump. Oh wait.... that's a pillow between his ears and the ground..... ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

While on vacation my wife and I met a woman who was one of those coaches to get everyone to work together. She said it was impossible, she would spend months getting them to talk to each other and every time she thought there was a breakthrough it was back to hating each other 24 hours later. This has been going on for centuries, never going to change.

Only Gid can bring peace to Middle East by ending the world I just don’t know the date.

Interesting that they have started to empty out all of the prisons, which includes many of the people that Assad had jailed. The problem is they are letting everybody out and there may be some bad people that shouldn’t be. Also, there’s a little concerned that they are emptying the jails to put dissidents and that don’t support the change.
