Building a family atmosphere. It started with the Harris brothers. Freshmen Jaquan pledging to Kevin Willard and Jamir committing to newly hired Shaheen Holloway for his super senior season. And then continued with the announcement that the Davis brothers, Louisville transfer Dre and incoming freshmen Tae would be plying their trade for the Pirates this upcoming season.

Older brother Dre was profiled previously and now we do the same for Tae.

Tae Davis was the first Class of 2022 pledge for the Louisville Cardinals, but he requested a release from his National Letter of Intent in late March after the program opted to hire Kenny Payne as their next head coach.

The younger Davis originally committed to Louisville over interest from Nebraska, Butler, Purdue, Indiana and Xavier.

Davis was a consensus top-five player in the state of Indiana, the 6-6 175-pound athletic Indianapolis native ranked as high as the #126 prospect in the class according to Rivals while garnering a 4 star rating from ESPN.

Why the interest in Seton Hall, a school that was not highly involved with Davis when he choose the Cardinals? In Davis' own words.

“For me, the biggest thing was the coaching staff. The coaching staff was amazing, it was great. Coach Shaheen is a real guy, he’s the type of coach I want to play for. They had the right coaching staff, the right system and I just had a good feeling about this place that I want to be at and it made sense for me.”

Tae called himself a “versatile playmaker” and “whatever position [Holloway] puts me at I’m fine with it.”

Here's Seton Hall beat writer Jerry Carino's take on the highly athletic Tae Davis

3 things to know about Tae Davis

1. He’s tight with his brother.

Tae originally committee to Louisville to play with his Dre, so it makes sense that they would move together after the Cardinals had regime change. He is rated as a high-end three star, the consensus No. 141 prospect in the class of 2022. After decommitting from Louisville he took official visits to Penn State and Utah.

2. His game has been compared to his brother’s.

A grinder who gets after it defensively. Not as strong as Dre but longer, with the potential for growth. At 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds, he’ll have to add some bulk. At Warren Central High School he played forward and was an Indiana All-State selection after leading the team to a 34-15 record over the past two seasons.

3. He plays a position of need.

With Jared Rhoden saying goodbye to Seton Hall this week as he pursues pro ball, the Hall needs wings and length. The Pirates are deep at guard, with two established veterans, two incoming freshmen and Clemson transfer Al-Amir Dawes likely on the way. He’ll have an opportunity to see time as a small forward.
