HAMILTON, N.Y. – Graduate student Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) is currently tied for fourth and has led the Seton Hall men's golf team to a fourth-place team standing with one round to play at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial.

Tait opened his stellar day with a six birdies in route to a 2-under-par, 70. He had six more in the afternoon on his way to a 1-over-par, 73. Through 36 holes, Tait is tied for fourth among 90 individual golfers with a 1-under-par, 70-73-143. He trails a pair of individual leaders, Colgate's Dugan McCabe and Yale's Teddy Zinsner, by two strokes entering Sunday's final round.

As a team, the Pirates fired an 8-over-par, 296, in round one, and shaved five strokes off in round two for a 291. Through 36 holes, The Hall is 11-over-par with a 296-291-587. It trails the team leader, Yale, by 15 strokes. Host Colgate is in second place at 3-over-par, while Rhode Island is third, just one stroke ahead of the Pirates.

BIG EAST foes Villanova and St. John's are currently tied for seventh, eight strokes behind Seton Hall.

Graduate student Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) and junior Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) are currently tied for 25th place at 4-over-par. Only one stroke behind the duo is senior Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) at 5-over-par.

Acevedo had two birdies in the morning to fuel a 3-over-par, 75. In the afternoon, he shaved two strokes of his score, using three birdies to power a 1-over-par, 73. Xie was identical to Acevedo, shooting a 75 and 73 respectively. He had three birdies in each of the rounds. Ramachandran opened with a 4-over-par, 76, powered by three birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 5 hole. In round two, he shaved three strokes off, finishing with a 1-over-par, 73.

Sophomore Alex Sun (Danville, Calif.) shot a 79 in the opening round, but shaved off seven strokes in round two. In his brilliant afternoon, he had four birdies and 10 pars in route to an even-par, 72. Through two rounds, Sun is tied for 38th place at 7-over-par with a 79-72-151.

Rounding out the Pirates' "A" team scoring was sophomore Brody Hanley (Lantana, Texas). Hanley was mostly consistent using four birdies in the opening round to power a 4-over-par, 76, and 11 pars in round two for a 5-over-par, 77. Currently, he's 9-over-par with a 76-77-153.

Seton Hall brought its entire roster to the Alex Lagowitz Memorial, which means the Pirates had enough players to field a second full team. Leading the Pirates on the "B" squad was freshman Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia).

Currently, only one stroke behind Tait, O'Brien is tied for sixth place overall. Playing in his first collegiate tournament, the freshman logged seven birdies in round one, including three straight on holes No. 1-3, on his way to a 3-under-par, 69. In the afternoon, O'Brien had 14 pars in route to a 3-over-par, 75. He's currently even-par with a 69-75-144.

After a 6-over-par, 78, in the opening round, Ian Lee (Johor, Malaysia) used a pair of birdies and 11 pars to power a 3-over-par, 75, in round two. Currently, he's tied for 43rd place with a 9-over-par, 78-75-153.

Senior Peter Tyler Po (Nasipit Cebu City, Philippines) is currently tied for 49th place with a 10-over-par, 78-76-154. Two strokes after Po was Hunter Ramee (Warren, Conn.), who has a consistent 12-over-par, 78-78-156. Freshman Joshua Lee (Lantana, Texas) currently has a 13-over-par, 80-77-157, in his first tournament as a collegian.

TOURNAMENT LEADER BOARDS
The Course:
Named for the ancestral home of the Colgate family, Seven Oaks Golf Club is nestled on the Colgate University Campus at the upper end of the Chenango Valley, in Hamilton, New York. In 1934, a young architect by the name of Robert Trent Jones was brought to Hamilton to begin work on designing the course as one of his first projects. Unfortunately, due to the great depression and WWII, the course and his plans were continuously postponed.

Jones was called back many times throughout the following years to redesign the course before a final version was accepted and it was not until 1956 that ground was broken on the first nine holes, officially opening on July 4th, 1958. Construction for the remainder of the course soon began and on September 4th, 1965 the last nine holes were opened for play.

Seven Oaks is characteristic of all Jones' courses, which include strategic deployment of water, along with extensive tee areas and large, expansive greens.

The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Colgate, the field includes 11 other schools: Bucknell, Cornell, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Rhode Island, Rider, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, Villanova and Yale.

The Format:
Teams will play six golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

Schedule:
The teams will play 36 continuous holes on Saturday, and one final round on Sunday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.

Results:
Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament via Golfstat.com. Complete results of each day's events will also be available following competition at SHUpirates.com.
