Two More Offers Jump Into Shamorie Ponds

Maurice Wingate

It's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game. If that's the case than 6'1" rising junior guard Shamorie Ponds is playing the game well.

While his AAU travel team the NY Lightning only went 1-3 during the first live period, Ponds' impressive play snagged the guard two new Division I offers.

"Rhode Island and Creighton offered," said Thomas Jefferson head coach Lawrence "Bud" Pollard. "They loved him at the Nike EYBL."

During the team's first entrée into the EYBL circuit, Ponds shooting prowess was on display. Eighth in overall scoring at the event held in Hampton, VA, the sharpshooter was also fifth in three-pointers and 1st in steals.

Pollard said that assistant coaches Luke Murray from URI and Pat Sellers from the Bluejays called with the newest offers to Ponds.

THe prolific scorer now holds over 10 offers from schools including St. John's Oklahoma, Maryland, Seton Hall and Miami.
