Took care of business. A matter-of-fact 33-point, coast-to-coast win against a really bad team. Refreshing.

Offense was sloppy at times (Kadary looked rusty) but good defensive effort and response to get to 14-8, 7-4.

They were locked in defensively all game. Great to see. Dre with the double double. Bediako and Coleman played great too and Dawes handled the point well.

Kadary doesn’t look 100% but hopefully he shook some rust off and is ready to go next Wednesday.

Next five games are a good stretch to get some separation. Need to go at least 3-2; maybe 4-1 if Kadary is healthy. 10-6 or 11-7 then at UConn and Creighton.
The good news is that SHU will increase their lead on some of the teams behind them for the next 8 days at least. Doesn't look like Marquette and Creighton will falter, but most of the other teams will. Right now, the goal is to win 5 games and finish no worse than 4th in the league. That looks the most realistic goal at the moment. It is possible that SJU can finish ahead of us, but they have some tough games.

Agree…this is the year we need to beat Nova, at least once. If they keep struggling, they will hopefully be packing it in by the time we play them. They have to be disappointed in their record.
Amen. What has it been, 7 straight losses? And many close and heartbreaking.

With that win, we got a good bump of about 12 spots in KP TO #56, hopefully similar in the NET.

Need another strong one against Georgetown at The Rock on 2/7 after the bye week. Get that and another road win at Villanova on 2/11 and we’ll be in real good shape at 16-8, 9-4.

Good to see them play hard and not let up on DePaul. DU is bad but also missing best player and a rotation player. Imagine being down Kadary and Coleman as a comparison.

Davis is a real good player. He’s fun to watch bc he’s crafty, tough, and has a lot of good moves. He’s having a great season.

He’s been a top-15 player in the BE and hopefully gets some consideration for an all-league team if this continues.

It’s too bad what happened with him and Richmond last year with the injuries. We could’ve been an NCAA team. Hopefully we seal the deal this year!

He is one strong guy too. He has a few baskets a game where he just muscles his way in against double teams and scores anyway. And he gets some phenomenal rebounds in traffic too because of that strength. Love watching him play.

One area Sha has to work on with both centers and with Davis is when they pull the ball down in traffic. Leads to too many turnovers. Keep that ball high.

All big men should remember that when they get the ball keep it high if not from 6 10 you become 6 5 and lose your height advantage .

I love Jaden's game. And I am seeing so much more from ehe lately. Using his body better ad collecting himself when down low. Hope he watches how Jaden pays. I always thught that was why a few years ago we got stuffed at the hoop so often. We got the ball and went up. No fakes, pivots, shoulders in the mug, just a blocked shot at the rim.

But man, the dp inside d was so bad last night. I saw one of one of their recent games against a good team and they stayed competitive for a while. Which made me nervous as we had the early lead but were playing so poorly. I saw them making three 3s in a row and my blood pressure soaring.

Sha's defensive mindset was in full view last night.

When we get into these scoring lulls, we really need to get the ball to Dre or Jaden in the low post. Both guys are pretty consistent scorers in the paint and our best options for an easy bucket. I wish Sha would would call a play for one or the other when we do get in those droughts. Dre is so crafty. He's the type of guy I used to see on other teams and wish we had at SHU.

Georgetown is hard team to figure. They barely beat Depaul at home and got hammered at home by Butler, but played Xavier and Providence very tough on the road. They also were fairly competitive against UCONN. The good news is Sha usually has his team ready to play against the lower tier teams.

I would have to go look at the box scores, but with Epps, he can go off for 25 points plus if he is hot from three. He can also shoot you out of the game when it’s cold. Cool is solid if he stays out of foul trouble.

Need to get it more inside to Big J. He seems more confident offensively and is getting good position. He's a good FT shooter too, so a win-win.

The rest of the season rests on Kadary's back, heel and other sore body parts.

Many reasons to see the Georgetown game as critical. I would add a personal plea to Sha and the team. Please win on the 7th so I can continue to have bragging rights within my family. I am surrounded by Hoya relatives. OL
Just tell them we might lose the game, but they will always have a POS head coach… Lol

Often superior teams, especially late in the season don't take an opponent like Georgetown serious and because of that the game is tight longer than it should be until the better team breaks away late.

The Hall is not good enough to take anyone lightly san DePaul. I expect they will be ready for Georgetown. I just hope the fans and student are. They took their feet off the gas against Providence.

With Richmond’s time missed, Epps has now taken over as #1 in both usage and % of shots in the conference within BE games. He’s 31/72 (.431) from 2PT, only 17/68 (.250) from 3PT. He’s 7th in fouls drawn and 7th in FT% at .860. Although with his workload probably not surprising that the shooting is off a bit from outside as that tends to happen. He shot 5/13 from 3 vs. Seton Hall, his best game, lol.

He’s played in 8 of their games. Over those 8, he’s had 3 games with o-ratings above 100, 3 games with them below 80, 2 in the 90’s. He’s all over the place with that volume of shooting.

It’s the weird 6:30 game again, like Providence. By far the worst time to get there, IMO. But by then we hadn’t played at home in a while so hopefully there’s some biz

I have been asking for that all season. Not sure i think its gonna happen. But he gives us great effort day in day out. Rebounds, defends, and gets us points on his own. And he played clingan so darned well in first uconn game. Thrilled with what he gives us.

With Cooley they give off that aura of a team that can be dangerous no matter who they play. I suppose they had some of that with Patrick as well. They would have the occasional blowout loss but usually be competitive.

That said, their margin of defeat in eight BE losses is 13.5 points. They've lost by 10, 30, 17, 4, 13, 1. 24 and 8. Their only win is by three at home against DePaul.

For all of their warts (loss to Holy Cross and a few escapes against lower-level teams) they also played TCU to a one-point loss. You just never know.

Watching SJU at Xavier. The Hall will pick up a game either way. Better for us if Xavier wins, I believe? Xavier leads 70-65 with 6 minutes to go. SHU controls their own destiny and that's a good thing.

and...right most scenarios would have us playing St. John's on Thursday afternoon....with both teams swapping between 4 and 5 depending on exact wins...and perhaps that St J matchup coming up.

Gotta say, wouldn't like to face them at the Garden for Pitino's first BE tourney back in the league...but a lot of basketball yet to be played...

SJU really struggling to get stops, loose balls, and rebounds down the stretch. Can't get over the hump.

Could just as easily be Providence

Right now, I'd say it will come down to SJU and Xavier. Providence are playing well, but they have a brutal schedule the rest of the way. SJU has the more favorable schedule. I believe they have a good chance to beat Uconn on Saturday. If they don't they will really have to scramble.

Absolutely 💯 agree.

St. Johns has 4 games still vs DePaul and GTwon

Xavier has 3 vs those same teams, are done with UConn, and their road games left are DePaul, Gtown, SHU, Butler, and Marquette.

We complain here about our schedule but right now working in our favor. Little break in the action and some winnable games coming up could set us up for a big finish. Of course no one thought we would be 7-4 right now either.
