Texas Republican Party pass Resolution

Anyone who believes that nobody attempted to stop the lawfully elected president from taking office is absolutely stuck in their echo chambers.

No surprise here as the same crazies consistently have the most uninformed views

Nice to see PirateCrew's resident moron is still around! Probably still wants to shut down the country - look what that got us.

Not just Trump, see Biden and all past presidents as well.

When the truth doesn’t matter, we are entering a very dangerous time for our system of government
There has to be levels here. Yes Yetna and Harris can both his a 3's but one does it much better than the other.

Yes, the summer of violence with the riots where police for some reason were not allowed to do their job was a disgrace but someone trying to stop the peaceful transfer of power (which in probably one of the most American traditions we have), from the most powerful position in the world, is a bit more consequential in my mind.

There are levels here, equating Biden lying to how much Trump has and continues to lie to the American people seems a little disingenuous.

What’s your measurement of what was worse?
- Number of lives lost?
- Property damage in dollars?
- Number of arrests?

By those measures, the summer riots were a lot worse?

I have not watched. I have almost zero interest in them.

I'm more concerned with $5 gas, rampant inflation, the bear market and a probable recession. Not something that happened a year and a half ago.
Thanks for being honest. That explains why you were misinformed in this message:

Nobody attempted to stop the president from taking office or overthrow the country. Stop with the histrionics.

When I talk about Jan 6th, I’m not talking just about the MAGA losers trying to storm the capital. I’m talking about if Trump succeeded in his plot to pressure and lie to overturn the states’ electoral votes, yes with the help on foot soldiers physically pressuring leaders on Jan 6th but all of the other stuff he and his crew tried to do together to stop the peaceful transfer of power is part of it.

It would have been one of the most consequential events in America history. It would have spurred violence everywhere and with a spiteful/retaliatory Trump holding on to power with the control of the biggest military power in world, it could have ended what now seems like a very fragile democratic republic.

While any loss of life is tragic during the riots or the storming of the capital, ending the peaceful transfer of power not only undermines the foundation of our country, it also creates a template for others politicians to lie and pressure to gain/keep power in the same manner. With Trump unlawfully retaining power or any other potential politicians doing the same, it has the potential for countless deaths that all the riots/storming combined wouldn’t come close to.

In my eyes, it’s not even close what was worse for our country.

Because you don’t live in a world of facts. You have said countless times there is no reason that anyone should own an assault weapon. You’ve been given reasons, but can’t except facts.

And now you blame Republicans for all of the problems in this world. Unhinged.
Now you are engaging in falsehoods. I live in a world of facts. You have given reasons for owning a AR-15 which I have rebutted on every turn. Hunting, no real hunter uses this. Home defense - a handgun is a better choice at least just as good. Target practice. -ok its fun to shoot but that is not a good reason to own it. There is just as good as an alternative if not better that already exists. Let's not forget that part of the issue.

Second, never blamed the world problems on Republicans. Just that a major part of tearing this country apart is coming from the Republican or really Trumpian Party. The real Republicans like Romney, Chaney, Sasse are such a small minority of the party that they are almost independents. You and the others on this board that hide their head below the sand and are dismissive of Trump and his followers. You claim not to support Trump but you and people who think like you enable his actions.

Texas GOP is embarrassing. The entire GOP is shameful right now. For those not paying attention to the January 6th commission, its almost all Republicans testifying about the deceit and plans to stop Biden from being confirmed.

The country wont be able to heal until the cancer that is Trump is stomped out.

So why is the GOP "shameful" if it's all Republicans testifying to that? Lol. Seems to me it's quite honorable if that did in fact occur and they are telling the truth about it.

Because the party leaders and for the most part, the GOP populace, continue believe the crazy lies of Trump and amplify them on a daily basis. We have bad actors in the media that repeat these lies.

Were in a bad place in this country.

I don't know anyone in my daily life who believes Biden didn't win - some of those people vote Republican.

I have just about given up on America though. People are too divisive, politicians are only in it to enrich themselves, people don't want to work and just want handouts. The woke agenda has seeped too deeply into companies and culture to reverse. We're halfway to hell in a handbasket.

and you think its the truth??

He is talking about the people testifying. While it may be honorable most have no choice as they are under oath and there are penalties to perjury.

You can’t even get your facts straight. I never said one of the uses was for hunting. But you keep repeating that for some reason. No credibility.

You have been rebutted on all of your other opinions. Even gave you examples, which you just choose to ignore.

I asked you earlier what the causes were of our current state of general divisiveness after you went on a rant about Republicans, which you chose to ignore. Keep up.

If people testifying said this stuff happened and it's the truth, yes, that's quite honorable.
I agree with you. These state Republican representatives had tremendous pressure exerted on them by the President of the US. It was honorable for sure to stand up and speak truth to power. These Republican representatives were honorable and upheld their oath to the Constitution. We should alll be praising them. They are the ones that upheld our Constitution and prevented a constitutional crisis in the country.

I thought their testimony was very powerful. This was not an easy thing to do.

You’re talking about a bunch of hypotheticals that never happened. The summer riots were incited by politicians that yielded event after event of violence, damage and death.

Btw, I know plenty of people who think Trump won and That the election was stolen. Have a conversation with people from Ocean County. You will find out that many people believe that. People I know that go to Seton Hall games also believe it.

I am not sure if anyone on this board believes it but I am sure there are one or two lurking on this site.

Any left leaning politician who encouraged riots and violence that summer should be prosecuted. This is now the way of many of the GOP and nobody is stopping it.

As far as hypotheticals, look at any country with a dictatorship where the leader coerces, lies, and breaks laws without punishment to maintain power and the violence and corruption that follows.

Please watch the Jan 6 Commission hearings and circle back with an updated opinion that a few unorganized riots by an often marginalized group is a bigger deal than what Trump and his cronies tried to to.

We have politicians that break the law all the time on both sides, and many get away with it (and their party blindly supports them even when the evidence says differently). Fortunately the structure of or government has checks and balances to prevent one person who goes off the rails from becoming a dictator.

I don’t need to watch these public circuses which these hearings over the last several years have become. We know what happened and if the Justice Department believes Trump and others should face prosecution, then they should act.

Perhaps if they weren't so partisan more would take something away from them?

I voted for Trump twice, but I don’t want him to run again. He lost the 2020 election and we need to move on from the whole stolen election misinformation. The way thinks are going a Republican other than Trump has a good chance to win in 2024 and a lot of my Republican friends feel the same way as I do.

You clearly aren't watching. Almost 100% of the people who have testified are Republicans. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are on the select committee and they're Republicans. What more do you want from these people?

Actually, it would be nice if it was a little more partisan, especially when you have water carriers like Adam Schiff say things like, "This isn't who we are." Uh, yeah it is, Adam! It's clearly who the Republican party is, and who they have been for a long time.

As far as I'm concerned, the democrats and the media are using kid gloves on these people. Any other country that claims to call itself a functioning democracy would rightfully treat this like the major crisis it is.

Seriously, though, why do you think the select committee is "so partisan?" Because they're only going after Republicans? That's all who participated in this scheme!

The committee rejected several republican names given and the committee wanted Cheney and Kinzinger. That isn't bipartisan.

The witnesses who testified were not allowed to be cross-examined. That's not bipartisan.

Not allowing any cross-examination makes this a witch hunt like all political investigations. Charge Trump with a crime, let him mount a defense, bring in all sorts of witnesses, allow cross-examination, and let a jury of his peers decide.

You are talking about a criminal trial. An indictment is a one-sided presentation of facts of criminality. It is based upon the prosecution point of view. Here we have all witnesses are from the defense side. The bias from these witnesses leans toward Trump not the Democrats. Which of course makes it more credible. What an absolute fraud you are to say it’s partisan.

We shall see if the DOJ has more than enough evidence to indict Trump. Cause it it takes more than reasonable doubt to after a president. It take no doubt about it. Then Trump gets his right to cross examination when he goes on trial. To ignore what is being presented, is very sad.

Not sad….funny how you go on these over the top rants.

Do you have anything to say other than Oh you are on a rant.? You are bringing absolutely zero to the discussion.
I do if you pay attention (which you don’t because you continue to make claims about things I never said).

Just say you hate guns, Trump and Republicans and you can save a lot of words.Too funny

It's as partisan as anything, which is par for the course for DC. The point of these hearings is to rile up the Democrat base so they vote in November.

Everything in DC is about politics and how the party in power can stay in power. They don't care about solving problems or finding out the truth about an incident. It's all for show.

Why? Is the president above the law in your opinion? I don't think he is, or any former president. Either there is evidence or there is not.

In theory no. In practice, there certainly is. The President is not above the law. However, the quality of evidence to convict a President is much higher than would convict an ordinary citizen. There is an old saying. "When you strike at the king, you must kill him." Thus, you must have overwhelming evidence of guilt that goes well beyond what would convict an ordinary citizen.

But he’s not the President anymore…

They rejected two names and Kevin McCarthy just decided to withdraw all the nominations and decline to participate in the investigation. Very convenient that you make it sound like Democrats only took the Republicans they wanted, when in fact the house minority leadership just decided to quit.

All this nonsense about no cross-examinations is very compelling until you realize Republicans did it to themselves. Personally, I would have loved to watch Jim Jordan tear into his fellow Republicans.

However, I agree that they should just get on with it and charge Trump with a crime. Democrats are too weak and craven to do that, though. Worst witch hunters I've ever seen in my life.

Most of the damage and talking points/tweets are from Republicans politicians, Republican AG, R lawyers, R staff, election officials that vote R and there are two Republicans on the panel that have ruined their career and put their country before themselves or their party.

Schiff should not be on the panel bc he is super biased as everyone knows from his previous theatrics, but the other folks seem fine. Even Shiff however let the video evidence do most of the talking.

Please watch the videos. If you think the panel is biased, just listen and watch all the tweets and testimony and mute the rest of the stuff.
