Thank god its almost over

It's been over for quite some time.
Brutal, simply brutal.

The question is what happens now. This is a pivotal time for the university and program. Does leadership get it (NIL) and does Sha learn from this and respond? We should begin to know some of the answers sooner than later, based on who Sha brings in.

If this season hasn't been a kick in the nuts.....

In order to improve it for next year, the wake-up call would've had to have been in place already for quite some time. They need to have about $4M in their pocket right now without the revenue sharing. My guess is they don't, but I really hope I'm wrong. We'll find out starting in two weeks.

"..... who Sha brings in." And we won't know about that until Nov. or Dec. Look how encouraged we were last spring and summer about guys coming from Providence, Wisconsin, BC, and Louisville.

You don't think the school had a wake up call by January, maybe even by Nov 1?

I don't know. I hope so. I said it was a guess. The company line there for a while was just give Shaheen time with the players... I don't know how they left the team with a $1.5 mil-ish budget for this season but were then able to generate the money I'm outlining in the past few months? Theses same people? Like how, what changed? OK, great if so - and what I'm rooting for I am skeptical of the whole operation after this.

The landscape is different...player movement is happening sooner...heck, with tampering, these kids will be public on moves by April.

A truly stunning regular season of ineptitude.

**Most losses in a season (24).
**Fewest wins (7) since 1982-83 (6).
**Did not win a single true road game.
**2nd worst BE record in our history (2-18).
**Snapped a program-record 9-season run of .500+ in conference play, one of fewer than 10 programs to achieve such nationally.
**Posted a 1-7 record against BE teams with losing records.
**Lost 3 non-conference games to KP #220+ teams, including arguably the worst non-conference home loss in the Big East Era losing to Monmouth by double-digits.
**Dating back to 1997, our previous WORST KP was #117 under Willard in 2012-13. We were also a close #115 under Blaney in 1996-97 (coincidentally Sha's freshman season). This year #208. 😲

Offensively of 364 teams nationally:
  • 357th in EFG%
  • 296th in offensive turnover %
  • 358 in 2PT%
  • 333rd in FT%
  • 346th in 3PA:FGA; yeah lets not use the 3PT shot, Sha.
  • 324th in tempo; great flow to dribble aimlessly for 15 seconds.
Oh but hey we were 17th in % of bench minutes! He had no clue what to do with this group and it showed all year. I am on the side that blames NIL mostly for this and we're not going to improve without fixing that first, BUT the basketball was so bad to watch, the thought process of putting this group together turned out to be so bad, and there was a clear disconnect between Sha and the players all year long IMO that we can't just gloss over the coaching staff.

Moving forward, the notification-of-transfer windows in basketball will be open for 30 days, starting the day after the conclusion of the second round of each NCAA Division I championship, when 91% of teams in both men's and women's basketball have concluded their season. For the 2024-25 academic year, the window will be open March 24-April 22 for men's basketball and March 25-April 23 for women's basketball.

Nope. I don't think they had a wake up call until BE coaches and media personalities started humiliating them in articles and tv interviews and post game press conferences
You cannot have walked around the arena from January on and not had a wake up call.

Empty student section

Parking lots roped off so less people have to work the lots

Concession stands closed.

Even die hards not showing up.

Most depressing thing since the Bobby G era punch to the groin.

If the administration does not fix this and Sha does not change, this insanely dedicated and long time fan who had to be one of the first to renew tickets for next year with a stiff increase in points requirement, will be done with the program.

I strongly disagree with the part on Sha changing. The guy needs funds. This time last year did you think he needed to change. Going into the big east tournament needing a win to get in, he didn't need to change. Now he needs to change. I wasn't excited about the NIT at all last year, but I didn't think he needed to change as much as get more players. The guy needs money. Revenue share isn't helping because all the other teams get it too and NIL remains the difference. All that is happening with revenue share is Kadary is now a 2 million dollar player instead of 1 million dollar player. With Sha someone will eventually have to make the decision whether he can get it done or not with the funds we have. If not we need to find the person who can find undervalued players and make it work in 6 months. That's no easy task, but it's a great opportunity for someone making $400,000 to get a big bump in pay.

Sha in huddle yesterday is not a great look, but I can love with that franky.

He needs to change on roster construction and calling out his players publicly.

I like Sha as much as anyone here, but he needs to grow and change. He took a swing at spreading funds and coaching them up. It failed. But even that was him changing from the predicament the year before. It is not an easy balance. Look at English, Neptune and others.

The Sha "changes" should have started months ago . Has there been a GM for NIL hired/appointed? Has there been a plan developed -- other than Sha vowing that he is excited to start recruiting and to hopefully identify whom may return? The Answer appears to be that things will work out because more money may be available.
SHU has to step up and demand accountability . All parts of the Program have to know what they are doing (from the numerous Assistant Coaches to the Trainers and staff) and what the plan to reach the goal is. Just running out and paying Players cause there may be more money is not the answer.
I am hopeful that there will be foundational changes because what has been done with giving Sha Carte-Blanche and Sha doing everything himself has not and will not work.

Whatever, fine. You're correct.

Now for the REAL question, how come this board knew we were behind on NIL for years and our admins didn't? If they realized it in November, congratulations to them I guess?

I personally think they didn't care or understand until Pitinos interview (which most on here criticized Pitino -- just another PDS symptom from our posters here)

This may be the worst SHU team since recorded time. SHU fell off the map because of the Scandal in 1961. The teams in the 70's had talent. Although The Hall struggled out of the gate in the original BigEast, it at least felt more competitive. Calandrillo was that good of a shooter. The 1982- 1983 team is most compared to this year's squad, but they still had Andre McCloud, an excellent player.

Barring a miraculous run at MSG the season will probably be finished by Wed or Thursday. For us fans that is when the real fun starts. For me I can't say that the NIL is the only reason for this disaster. I guess if The Hall could pay Richmond, Cam Jones, Louis Jr. and others we would be better??? What coach would not be? No mandate on Sha yet. I am in the camp that says that he can turn it around with an infusion of talent. Personally, i think if he refines his act it would be beneficial.

People with the PDS think he spends his time hatching some nefarious plan to hurt us.

In reality, the only reason he (and others that followed him) felt compelled to speak publicly is to help Sha. Not us. Sha. The coaching fraternity thing. At MSG a few weekends ago you know what we saw before the game: Pitino, Sha and Davis yucking it up together like long lost friends.

Pitino knows when he speaks headlines follow and so he did so publicly to support Sha. Then Hurley and Shaka did too.

Off season wish list:

Sha revamps his staff, enough with the St. Peters loyalty
Sha hires a GM
Sha allocates money to a few high potential impact players vs the "spray and prey" method of last season
Sha refines his coaching style to be a but more player friendly
Sha enrolls in a public speaking class, learns business acumen for essentially being a CEO

I never understood why people were upset by Pitino's comments; they were dead right. I dislike the guy but I'm glad he said what he did.

Because it was him. And there is some grand conspiracy that the P word and his horse racing buddy the "R" word spend their time conspiring against Seton Hall. When the reality is they targeted KR amongst many other portal players because the P word thought he'd be one of several kids who would be a good fit. And may well not have gotten him if some of the other kids pursued in the portal didn't go elsewhere. But it had nothing to do with Seton Hall.

The reality is no one on this board has blasted Khadary very much at all this season. Very few have any issue with Pitino or Repole. Frankly, this all has helped hopefully wake up Seton Hall.

So Pat came up with "PDS" in his imagination? As our former President said, "comeeeee onnnn mannnnnn"

Whatever you think. There are a few but I don't think there is nearly the vitriol toward Khadary that I expected.

Just like someone posts Sha should be fired 1 or 2.other posters support and it becomes a long thread. The vast majority of this board does not think that Sha should be fired, but there have been 25 posts this morning about it, mine included.

No vitriol to Khadary because it is clear he made the right decision for so many reasons, and this team was one of the worst in SHU history. He simply made a great business decision.

There a no longer any enforceable rules involving recruiting. Slime agents are signing kids up in HS. Deals are made long before March. Amateur athletics is dead as is the term student/athlete. Thank you NIL.

The agents aren't even real agents for most of the kids. Real agents don't care about the 5th guy off the bench at an A-10 school, yet somehow those kids have agents. My buddy's cousin is involved with his alma mater's NIL. The stories he comes back with are insane. They've told backups if your agent thinks you can get that value by all means we will help you enter the portal. He says they've been given bad, off the wall business advice that have left kids in bad tax situations. It's crazy. We went from making a buck or two on an EA Sports video game or Heisman type candidates being able to do a Wendy's commercial to chaos. At some point college sports will kill itself and the NBA/NFL will need real minor league systems to develop talent for the future of their leagues. Can't happen soon enough.

Imagine any business that can be run without rules and regulations / licenses or oversight. These "Agents" are a disease without a cure.
