The Big East

Fair take on us. I think 9th will be the typical expectation.

Best in decades? C'mon.....

Looks like the league will have a lot of good teams but the Big 12 is the best conference in the land until proven otherwise.
5 top 25 teams, perhaps 3 top 10. When was it better than that?

UConn: not as good as last year. Yes they returned players but now you’re asking role players to step up to be play makers. Doesn’t always work

Creighton: taking 2 steps back. This isn’t a team that will run the table

Nova: Justin Moore revenge tour could be dominate

PC/Xavier/GT: maybe 1/3 finishes ahead of us. But no way all 3 ahead of us

If Neptune can coach, Nova is back. Then you have a pair of Top-10 maybe higher in Connecticut and Marquette. Some real good teams.

Creighton will be very good again too.

Didn’t UConn prove that at the end of last season? Which conference has the reining national champs?

So the American was the best conference in 2014, got it.

Lol, this has absolutely nothing to do with what conference is the best.

One team’s results do not make the overall strength of the conference superior, especially when their tournament bracket was busted several times. That said, they were the national champs.
I don't disagree, but keep in mind that Connecticut was undefeated out of conference and had the January from hell in the conference. Yeah, the league having the national championship doesn't in and of itself make it the best conference, but it's certainly a factor to be considered. When you add to that that Connecticut losses all came out of the Big East, I think he got a pretty decent argument for our being the best conference last year.

We also have the number three recruiting class joining us. Stephon Castle is the real deal and may end up being a "one and done" player. Solo Ball, and Jaylin Stewart both seem like they'll get meaningful minutes. While Jaden Ross and Youssef Singare, will probably only see spot minutes.

Donovan Clingan seems poised for an even better year than last year and is considered the first round draft pick. Alex Karaban is likely not leaving next year, but in all likelihood he's going to be a pro. So it looks like our team has three future NBA players on it. That's a pretty good sign for us.

Tristan Newton coming back for us is bigger than a lot of people realize. He had two triple doubles last year and was key for us in the championship run. Look for him to play a lot more 2 guard which is his natural position as Stephon Castle is likely to get a lot of burn at point. Having two guys who could handle the ball has been a key ingredient of the last three Connecticut championships.

Add to that Hassan Diarra, who brings senior leadership and relentless on the ball pressure and Samson Johnson, who Hurley claims is the most athletic guy on the team, and we have some pretty nice pieces. I'm not saying that we're a lock to repeat, because we all know how hard that is, but given that we lost three players to the NBA from last season's team, I feel like we're pretty well positioned to have another good year.

I think 7-9th is likely. 7th gets us into the tournament. The BE on paper is the best conference in the US and the best in decades.

All 10 of the Big 12's teams were top 70 in last year's NET rankings with seven of the 10 in the NET top 30. Every other P6 conference had at least one team that was below the top 200.

I'd say that makes a good argument for the Big 12.

For comparison, the BE had four in the top 30 and five in the top 70.

Fair enough but I was referring to this year. B12 is obviously excellent.

I'd be surprised if the Big 12 isn't better than the BE this year either. And that's with UCF and possibly Cincinnati and BYU weighing them down some.
