I just seek all registered voters who have casted ballots to have them counted, no need for political tactics/voter suppression

We don’t need to “both sides” this one. Republicans in several states are going to trying to find ways to not count all the votes. It’s telling. Hopefully they don’t get away with it.

The system is a joke. Democrats don’t care about matching signatures and want votes to count that come in after Tuesday. Both sides are playing games.

Stop. Dems are not against matching signatures.
And they want to count votes which are postmarked before Election Day as many states said they would be. Nothing wrong with counting them except for the fear that those votes are not for the candidate you prefer to win.

Amazing there are naive people that think only one side tries to game the system. Showing their true colors.

No one said that.

Count the votes that were cast. That is not a partisan statement.

Right now, only one side is arguing we shouldn’t. Dems would probably do the same if more votes meant they have less of a chance to win... and that would be wrong if they did.

Mail in voting is a form of voter intimidation. It’s a grass roots effort to get people to vote and there’s no decision making process on how to vote; someone fills it out for you. It’s commonplace and so it is a both sides issue. I would never bring it up but you insist on raising your issue. Should I reference the other schemes from the left? Will that get you to realize that tricks are being played by the left? Probably not and if I wasn’t in line at an Italian deli I wouldn’t have wasted my time sending this which is directed to the most open minded people in the world.

You do know earlier this week a Virginia judge ruled not to count ballots with no postmark on it? Why would this even go to court? It should be a no brainer.
Ok...i dropped my ballot off at a designated location by county and municipality...here is a problem with states rights

Don’t bother. Merge only cares about his one party conspiracy theory.

I am willing to discuss any issue you would like... but this thread started with a very basic premise.

Should we count all the votes which were cast on or before election day?

Your answer should be yes.
Not "maybe", Not "Yes, but...". Just yes.

It's a conspiracy theory to say republicans are in courts fighting against counting ballots postmarked on or before election day?

Sad you can't just look at one issue and see that it is wrong without having to find a way to excuse it.

I'm not excusing anything. My position has been that the whole system needs reform and both sides game it.

Sure, and we have discussed all of that in other threads and doesn't really have much to do with the actual votes being cast for 2020.

Republicans in court fighting to prevent votes from being counted.

I don't believe that a drive through polling location to make it easier for people to vote is "gaming the system". I do believe that trying to throw out the ballots which were cast in that manner goes way beyond "gaming the system"

i don’t know the specifics of how Texas manages the voting process and what changes were legally put in place for COVID. Both sides try to take action when they see an opening. Is that hard for you to understand?

When one side is saying "how can we game this system to get more people to vote" I will be on their side when they other side is saying "how can we game the system so we don't have to count those votes"

Will it matter if the question is whether or not those votes are of
Illegals. Just think Russia and China send people to vote. Yes they count.

Yet Democrats want to count votes that come in after Nov. 3. We have one election day. Any vote that is cast or is submitted after that date should not count.

Stop with the conspiracy theories. Republicans are trying to turn out votes, not suppress them.

Stop. No one is saying we should count illegal votes.

These are citizens who voted, and republicans fight to not count them in court.

Shu09 many states have different postmark deadlines and election code as to when a ballot can be countes/approved by, states rights

I agree. Any vote cast or submitted after election day should not count... but no one is saying they should be counted. However, if they were cast before election day and there is evidence of that, then they should count.

top with the conspiracy theories. Republicans are trying to turn out votes, not suppress them.

This thread is about a republican lawsuit to throw out over 100k votes which were cast in Texas.
There are several other lawsuits around the country where republicans do not want to count ballots postmarked on or before election day. These are not conspiracy theories.

No one is saying it but newspapers have just been writing about it for over a year for no reason. Sounds good.

Texas ‘Ballot Chaser’ Pressures Voter to Change Vote from Cornyn to Hegar: ‘That’s My Job’ … ‘I Can Honestly Say I'm Bringing at Least 7,000 Votes to The Polls’ … Said Garza Gave Her $2,500 Gift Budget

  • Ballot Chaser Raquel Rodriguez: “I could go to jail. I’m a little apprehensive to tell anybody what I’m f#cking doing, you know what I’m saying?”
  • Rodriguez: "You [voter] said you're voting straight Democrat per our conversation... 'cause that's what you want to do, correct?"
  • Rodriguez: I drop off bundles of ballots at different post offices to avoid suspicion. “I go throughout the entire city. I'll take 20 [ballots] here, 30 [ballots] here, 40 [ballots] here."
  • James O’Keefe: “Our journalists discovered a voter fraud system positioned to swing Texas in 2020.”
[BEXAR COUNTY, TEXAS—Oct. 27, 2020] Project Veritas undercover journalists infiltrated a ballot harvesting racket deep in the heart of Texas in a devastating report released today.

“We keep hearing voter fraud is a myth and anyone who challenges that notion is simply creating hysteria,” said James O’Keefe, the founder and CEO of Project Veritas.

“I went to Texas to be part of the Project Veritas investigation into election fraud and to be on the ground here with our undercover journalists,” O’Keefe said.

“Our journalists discovered a voter fraud system positioned to swing Texas in 2020,”
he said.

“These so-called ‘ballot chasers’ use a mix of gifts and coercion to work down their list of targeted voters and make sure they vote for their paymasters,” he said. “The actions violate both federal and state law and constitute a direct threat to the integrity of our election-based republic.”

One of the capos in this ballot racketeering operation is Raquel Rodriguez, nominally a political consultant for GOP House candidate Mauro E. Garza, the owner of the San Antonio’s Pegasus Nightclub, which is located on the Main Avenue Strip, he said.

Raquel Rodriguez: “I can honestly say I'm bringing at least at least 7,000 votes to the polls.”

Journalist: “Seven thousand—and that's for San Antonio for this area too. It's a lot.”

My answer is yes. Every vote should be counted and certified. Unfortunately under the circumstances this means it will take time to determine who the president is (among other elections and issues)

That’s not unusual at all though.
I think the earliest certification deadline in any state is 11/10. 2008 Missouri took 2 weeks because it was so close and they needed to get through all absentee and provisional ballots. 2012 Florida took several days before we knew the winner.

They only call races when there is a large enough lead for one candidate that any potential uncounted ballots wpuld not change the results but they still count them.

If we don’t know who the winner is tomorrow night, it will be because several states are too close to call considering the potential outstanding ballots. Hopefully not the case, but if it is, that’s fine.

I don't like how the media is framing this, trying to insinuate that Trump doesn't want every vote counted. As Merge said, results often aren't certified until days or weeks after. What you see on TV on election night is statisticians, analysts, etc looking at the returns and making projections. They will project a state for a candidate if the outstanding votes would not make a difference in the result based on the already known count.

I think it is because the GOP is in court in several states fighting against counting ballots cast on or before election day. He said the decision by the supreme court allowing ballots to be counted which were mailed on or before election day to count as a "terrible decision" .

He said “We’re going to go in the night of, as soon as that election is over, we’re going in with our lawyers."

"if people wanted to get their ballots in, they should have gotten their ballots in long before that."

How should the media frame all of that?

The media should frame it as doing whatever each states' election LAWS require. Not on the whims of unelected bureaucrats but what the legislatures require and have voted on. You know, actual laws on the books.

So ignore what the president is saying? Do his words align with following what the laws require?
Why is the court allowing ballots cast by election day but counted afterwards a "terrible decision"
