The Gauntlet Begins

I'm excited for this stretch. This is what you live for if you're a college basketball player/fan. A chance for your team to make a name for itself against ranked opponents. If you want to be the best, you need to compete with and beat the best.

While I'm realistic about my expectations, I also look at this as a huge opportunity for our program to finally turn the corner. Get 2 wins and we're right on the precipice. Get 3 wins and I will confidently say we have turned the corner.

Let's do this.

Gotta find a way to win 2 games in this 5 game stretch. Won't be easy at all. Creighton will be no push over. We were fortunate to beat them twice last season and they look to be better than I thought they would this year. Need a signature road win if we want to go to the tourney.

I don't agree with that. We have 4 chances for a signature road win and I doubt we'll win any of them, but that won't stop us from the tournament. We'll have to win 1 or 2 of those at home, though.

Well, the 5-game stretch has come to a close. We went 1-4. Consensus was hoping for the home Creighton game and an upset of a ranked team for 2 with 3 leaving us downright giddy.

Then split Georgetown and Butler and we'll be in good position at 17-7, 7-5.

The next five games will play the key role in determining how this season ends up.

3-2 allows us to hang on at 16-8 (6-6) but leaves almost no margin of error the rest of the way.
4-1 puts in a good position at 17-7 (7-5).
5-0 makes it hard to miss the NCAA's as we'd be 18-6 (8-4).

I think we COULD go 5-0 but I'll believe it when I see it. I'm banking on 4-1.

I don't agree. Losing at Creighton is not the worst thing, but a win there would be absolutely huge. We cannot lose to St. John's or Marquette and we need to beat at least one of Georgetown/Butler at home, preferably both.
